European Lost Fangirl gathering y/y?
Uhm, so, there was talking about this today at eponine119's and it looks like we could try to test the waters. And I received a double blessing so I guess we can have an orientation poll, yes?

Poll #1286179 Okay, so, European Lost Fangirl Gathering y/n?

Okay, so, if we manage to do the European Lost Fangirl Gathering...

... I would totally attend! Or try to, but anyway mostly yes.
3(25.0%)
Oh, neat! I'll think about it but probably attend.
2(16.7%)
Mmmh, nice but I don't know if I could.
6(50.0%)
I probably wouldn't/couldn't attend.
1(8.3%)

In case, when should we do it?

Some time in summer 2009
6(54.5%)
Some time after summer 2009
1(9.1%)
A random weekend before June 2009 so we can also watch the Lost episode airing together
1(9.1%)
Another time I'll specify in comments
1(9.1%)

So that we're all geographically conscious, what country do you come from?

Where do you think we should (always as orientation, of course) go?

We see which countries we all come from, then choose one from which no one of us comes from with possibly a big city easy to reach.
1(9.1%)
A big city easy to reach like London or Paris regardless of where we come from.
7(63.6%)
Some place no one of us has already visited, regardless of where we come from.
0(0.0%)
I'll suggest you in comments.
0(0.0%)

What could be possible factors that would be a problem in attending?

School
1(8.3%)
Money
2(16.7%)
Commitments I could have this year
2(16.7%)
Something else that I'll specify in comments
0(0.0%)

Accomodation preferences? Or accomodation problems, in case?

How long would you prefer it to be? (of course that also depends on when we decide to do it if we do it)

Three-day weekend (a Friday/Saturday/Sunday kind of thing)
7(63.6%)
At least two or three full days including the weekend
2(18.2%)
Longer than either options (and I'll tell you how much in comments)
1(9.1%)

Okay, if it looks like we could do the real thing I'll guess the next poll will be more in the specifics of the matter. Also, I think I'm friends with pretty much everyone from Europe in fandom but if you know someone I haven't friended who could be interested head them here? ;) anything that wasn't in the poll, feel free to discuss in comments.

This looks like the coolest thing ever, I wish I could attend but I already know I can't haha. Unless a miracle happens, which I'll cling to at the moment. But it sounds really neat.

I really wish we manage to pull this thing together. And don't despair, maybe we'll find some time which is fine for everyone ;) ♥
siluria: Lost_naveen maggiesiluria on October 27th, 2008 08:55 pm (UTC)
I was just reading the Vegas one :) I'm definitely up for it - credit crunch permitting.
the female ghost of tom joad: glomping!janie_tangerine on October 27th, 2008 09:00 pm (UTC)
Hee, I read that this morning and then the suggestion came up and was like, why not? Cool! Same thing for me probably, but if we manage the thing it'd be awesome.
siluria: Lost_Duuuuuudesiluria on October 27th, 2008 09:06 pm (UTC)
I think it would be pretty darn fantastic :) If we go for one of the major cities that should be fairly cheap for people to fly into, and whether that's somewhere where one of the attendees is familiar then we might not all get too lost... no pun intended ;)
the female ghost of tom joad: lost hurleyjanie_tangerine on October 27th, 2008 09:12 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I'd also be for a major city. After all we have to get there someway ;) myself, I'm quite familiar with Paris since I went there on a couple of studying vacations, but I'd also love to go back to London since last time I was there I was twelve or something, but anyway any big city is okay for me. And yeah, getting lost now wouldn't be a priority, though that'd be according to the theme of the gathering ;)
alemyrddin: Sawyer sadalemyrddin on October 27th, 2008 09:03 pm (UTC)
It'd be great. My only problem is how to explain the trip to my husband and friends... *sighs*
But I'll definitely try to be there!
the female ghost of tom joad: lost sawyer guitarjanie_tangerine on October 27th, 2008 09:10 pm (UTC)
That'd be a problem indeed I guess, maybe you could get away with the weekend alone thing? ;) seriously, that's great! We'll see how it goes for now.

Oh, don't worry, you have a busy time yourself I see! To be honest it's not like I know how to explain it either but for now I'll just let that go, after all as long as I pay for it I guess they wouldn't make me too much trouble ;) and we'll see how this goes for now, I hope we manage ;) thanks! And have fun on the NYC trip, I'm kinda jealous now! ♥

I seem to be developing a tradition of going to London in the summer (I went for my birthday last year and the year before that!) so that'd be a pretty cool place to go. Not that I'm biased or anything! I've never been to Paris so I'd love to be able to see the city as well. I'd pretty much be up for anything that's easy to get to. I will (hopefully!) be working full time over summer (I'll possibly be evil scientist-ing again) but a long weekend shouldn't be too hard as long as that involves the travelling time.

And, omg, I am so excited about this idea!
the female ghost of tom joad: yay!janie_tangerine on October 27th, 2008 11:10 pm (UTC)
That's just so cool to hear! Well, London would be great for me, I have been there when I was twelve or something so I guess I'll have to go back there some time ;) I know Paris pretty well though (yay studying vacations spent going to the cinema instead of studying but well...) and I love it, so for me either would be fine. Now I'll let this go on a few days and then have another poll so that at least we'd have a more precise idea. I'll probably be having exams, but by mid-July I should be over so yeah, I'd say a weekend in the summer, too. Oh, go for you being an evil scientist! ;)

I totally am, too! God, I really hope we manage it!
Shona: hollyoaks - hannahtoestastegood on October 27th, 2008 11:16 pm (UTC)
I think my exams ought to be out of the way by June, so that'd be fine for me.

Ooh, me too! I never get to go to this kind of thing! It'll be so awesome to get to meet you and the others. Whatever city we choose should prepare itself for an epic overload of squee. ;)
the female ghost of tom joad: lost jinjanie_tangerine on October 27th, 2008 11:18 pm (UTC)
INDEED! And someone has to bring a laptop in order to watch ourselves at least one episode that satisfies everyone just to see the reaction ;)

I never get to do that too! And OMG now we really need to pull it off.
Shona: lost - sayid + charlie (squeeeeee)toestastegood on October 27th, 2008 11:21 pm (UTC)
YES! Though, wow, finding an episode that everyone likes will be hard. :P

-crosses fingers- I'm trying not to get my hopes built up just in case this doesn't work. Um. I may be failing a little in that regard.
the female ghost of tom joad: glomping!janie_tangerine on October 27th, 2008 11:25 pm (UTC)
LOL well there's always the pilot ;) I think everyone likes the pilot! As long as it's not Do No Harm.. ;)

God, I hope too. But there's time to work things out and plan ahead, if it's in the summer we just need to find some time which is fine for everyone.
Shonatoestastegood on October 28th, 2008 06:16 pm (UTC)
I saw elliotsmelliot mentioning she'd be interested in Scotland - just mentioned it to my flatmate and our flat's going to be pretty much empty for a month or so next summer. If people wanted Edinburgh to be the city we go to (is Edinburgh airport easy to get a flight to?) then you guys could stay here as long as you're okay with having to possibly sleep on a sofa or the floor!
the female ghost of tom joad: supernatural JOHN XQjanie_tangerine on October 28th, 2008 08:05 pm (UTC)
Oh, for me Edinburgh wouldn't definitely be hard! I think they have some Ryanair flights or something, but I think it could be doable. Mmmh, that's definitely an option to consider! And really, the floor is good enough for me, I'm not that picky ;)
the story girl: road tripeponine119 on October 27th, 2008 11:26 pm (UTC)
Oh, lovely! I wish I could. One of these days i'm gonna get to Europe but unfortunately I don't think it'll be soon. :(
the female ghost of tom joad: tangerinesjanie_tangerine on October 27th, 2008 11:27 pm (UTC)
Let's hope we manage the thing! Hey, it's the same for me and the USA *sigh* one of these days... well, if next year there are two gatherings the more the merrier ;)
elliotsmelliot: Booneelliotsmelliot on October 28th, 2008 02:57 am (UTC)
Ahhhh! This is so tempting! While Vegas would probably be cheaper, a Euro trip would be even better Fangirls + all that history and real culture! I've only ever been to the UK and would love to go back there or to somewhere on the continent. If you wouldn't mind someone older around, keep me in mind!
the female ghost of tom joad: lost boone ♥janie_tangerine on October 28th, 2008 08:05 am (UTC)
Hey, we aren't that picky! Whenever you're from doesn't matter and age surely doesn't matter, we'd be extremely glad to have you! ♥ I've been to the UK, too, but some ages ago and I wouldn't mind visiting it again, though since I know Paris well and I never say no to Paris I'd love either option. Or whatever we come up with, as long as everyone can reach it reasonably. We'll see how this goes! *tempts you quite a lot*
elliotsmelliotelliotsmelliot on October 28th, 2008 01:52 pm (UTC)
Cool! I am surely tempted! Thanks so much for throwing this out there and making it open to non-Europeans and those, um, over 30...slightly over 30... London or Paris would be great! I would also love to see Amsterdam, if only because I've always wanted to see Anne Frank's attic. Oh, and Scotland, but then I would probably be swooning all the time! and you would have to bring the smelling salts.
the female ghost of tom joad: lost desmond GUHjanie_tangerine on October 28th, 2008 08:03 pm (UTC)
Hey, I'd swoon with you if it was Scotland... salts for two? ;) Though toestastegood may have some accommodation in Edimburgh and that wouldn't be that hard to reach, so why not? I'll surely list it as an option for the next poll. Oh, Amsterdam, that's so beautiful. And I'd love to go see Anne's attic again actually ;)
Allie: Wicked hugsalliecat8 on October 28th, 2008 05:00 am (UTC)
I'm in love with the idea of meeting you all. I've never been overseas BUT, an LJ-er convinced me to get over my fear of flying and because of her I've flown across the country several times this past year, so if I can do that, surely I can fly across the pond!

I'd love for it to be longer than 3 days, since it's all so new and fresh to me.

I'm a little worried about being the sore thumb that sticks out of the group, though -- will everybody be speaking English?

I'd probably go on to Ireland after the gathering, and I don't know my geography at all (not even my own country's) but some big city that's easy to get to Ireland from would be great.

Tell me the truth -- would an American in the group be too weird?
the female ghost of tom joad: glomping!janie_tangerine on October 28th, 2008 08:12 am (UTC)
Surely not! Hey, if we could afford going to America we would go there and then we'd be the weird ones, right? ;)

I think everyone would be speaking English. I think it's the only language each on of us knows.

And hey, if you've flown over the USA coming here shouldn't be that hard! About the cities, from what came up in the poll it'll end up being a fairly big one like London or Paris if some other proposal doesn't turn up. If it was London you'd have no problems getting to Ireland, there's probably a flight each hour ;), but I don't think you'd have any if it was Paris, either. I mean, when I went to Ireland ages ago there still was the straight flight from Rome to Dublin, so I figure that in Paris they'd have one.

gah, I want to make a super-fangirl-gathering world tour!

why doesn't money grow on trees? I'll keep an eye out for what you'll be organizing, although I don't think I'll be able to swing it (sadly!)
the female ghost of tom joad: ILUjanie_tangerine on October 28th, 2008 08:06 pm (UTC)
God, really. Why doesn't it? If only going to America wasn't that difficult from here *sigh*. Well, that's just cool that you're keeping an eye out anyway! ;)
Elina: DARK TOWER OOreckess on October 29th, 2008 07:57 pm (UTC)
Awesomeawesomeawesome. 8D This was a perfect timing, y'know? XD 'Cause I just bought S1 on dvd and finally got back into the fandom. And next summer I'll also be legal to go to whatever crazy fangirl gatherings there may be.
the female ghost of tom joad: dark tower roland/eddiejanie_tangerine on November 2nd, 2008 12:47 pm (UTC)
And I'm an idiot because I missed it until now. *headdesk* YAY FOR BEING IN FANDOM!! ;) S1 is awesome. Totally awesome. And cool! Next week I'll have a more specified poll up so keep your eyes open ;)
