uni rant, sort of.
And here we are at it again. Last term I couldn't sign up for my exams because I got into university the last year before a (stupid) reform and they had classified all the exams of the last term so that just people who enrolled with the new reform could see them. And it ended up with me losing hours trying to figure that out and, in three cases, with three different outcomes: a) having a receipt for an exam that says that I gave a class of last year's second term and not this year's first, b) a blank receipt, c) having to go to the professor's office and having them signing me up.

Now, one would think that they'd fix that, right?

Nope. Today I go to sign up for two exams I have to make on the 15th and the 7th which (casually?) are both with two professors with a contract one of which doesn't teach at my university in the first place (he's here just for this year). I need to do six credits for each exam, and the site shows me just one option. For twelve credits. So I go to e-mail both and one answers me before I finish to e-mail the other telling me that she had put also exams for six credits and I should go to the school office, ask them and then let her know, and I figure that if I e-mail him I'll get the same answer. Aaand... tomorrow it's a national vacation, which means I can't go, and now it's 6 PM and it's too late. Sometimes I'd like to have in front of me whoever runs the uni site so that I could slap them. Is that too hard to get it right? Jesus, before this year it ran smoothly. Yeah, well, once each week it crashed, but that was normal administration. Now, I'm pretty sure that if I go to the school office they'll tell me that they don't know zilch (as they did for the entire month I stalked them last term) and I can just get a blank receipt, which is kind of not the goddamn point.

Before I get worried for the actual exams, I'll end up with an headache and another bunch of hours lost during which I could have studied something or done something productive (proof of that: I started the whole signing shit exactly thirty-five minutes ago and I ended up signing just for the exam I need to do on the 28th which wasn't exactly the most urgent thing, and it's the only result). I mean, dammit, I have enough stuff on my hands, do I always need to spend time actually just signing up for the damn thing? I fear it happens just in Italy. :////

Okay, rant over. Sorry about that. I'll go back to studying if I manage.

Aaargh. People at universities are supposed to be so smart, but they're really BAD at organizing stuff. Gah. It's the same here - I spent SO MUCH TIME running from one office to another, trying to sign up for classes or exams, running after credits... I'm just glad they were kind of behind the times in our faculty, so there weren't any computers involved. Because I have the suspicion it would have made things more difficult instead of easier. Jeez, I graduated in 2007 and I STILL get all riled up when I think about that crap *lol*

IKR? I'd pay for paper and pens and ANYTHING which isn't a computer. Since this mess is mostly because of the university site, not anything else. And dammit, it's not like running a site is THAT hard, sheeesh. I hate this crap. And I envy you, lol. Three years from now I'll be like that probably. And credits... seriously. Worst idea ever.

Well that sounds like a lot of fun! Sorry to hear this. Hopefully you'll get it figured out soon, I hate it when communication doesn't run smoothly in schools etc. it's ridiculous. You think these people would know something.

Yeah, buckets. ;) I just wish that we were a normal country and you didn't have to go through this whole business for freaking everything just because they need to do it complicated. Seriously, I don't even know how do people get paid to do that if they do it like this. :///

I can't stand when shit at universities get all eff'd up. Running around and playing hide and seek with professors and adviors are the worst lol

Me neither. God, I hate it so much. And the fun here is that you can't even go after they professors because it's the site's problem and it's out of their hands most times. Ewwww. *hates*

That sounds terribly confusing - having to sign up for exams and whatnot, not to mention the crazy credit discrepancies. I hope it'll all work out just fine for you in the end. *hugs*

That's Italy for you - making everything confusing and when it is, make it even MORE confusing. At least I won't have to do it again until next year. :/ Thank you! <3

Ee, because here it's a different system. Classes are open (anyone from outside uni could attend lectures in theory) and then you have to sign up because you never registered for a class. ;) And yeah, sucks. I hope that tomorrow they actually solve it or it'd be a major problem. Thank you! :D
