fic, SPN: to the lost (Dean/Castiel), NC17, for dc_dystopia
Title: to the lost
Pairings/Characters: Dean/Castiel, past Dean/Lisa; Crowley and Sam appear too.
Rating: NC17
Word Count: 12800 ca
Warnings: violence, PTSD (both main characters are WWI veterans) - includes some flashbacks to war scenes, one main character is permanently/heavily disfigured/scarred, minor characters dying left and right/killed in cold blood, since both main characters are hitmen. Blood on people's hands (literally and metaphorically). Mentions that both main characters had fleeting suicidal thoughts in the past.
Summary: 1921: Dean Winchester and Castiel Milton are two WWI veterans meeting by chance at a hospital. Dean, works for an alcohol smuggler for whom he does small/dirty business. After Castiel helps Dean with his current assignment, he ends up working alongside him for good. Neither of them is completely fine with it but when the only thing you're trained to do is kill people, there's not much of a choice.
Disclaimer: SPN isn't mine and my source of inspiration belongs to HBO. Sorry, nothing belongs to me.
A/N: written for the first round at dc_dystopia; this is partly based on Boardwalk Empire, or better, on the specific storyline regarding Jimmy Darmody and Richard Harrow. (This mostly was based on some S1 material, but I haven't used other plot elements from the show beyond some details after the first meeting.) Thanks so very much to brokentoy for betaing ♥. Also, just go look/gush at the gorgeousness that is gassadaa's art post because it's nothing short of stunning. The title is from a BE episode/line.

I was waiting to do one because I'm waiting for some extra/late art, but I posted this on AO3 and I think that they allow you to dl a PSD of the story (there's a DL button up right), there's the link :) let me know if it works, if not I can just make a placeholder one from scratch and give you a link :)
