the female ghost of tom joad
So this prompt had to be for Claire. But I couldn't write it for how much I tried. Then I couldn't do anything for it, then I was skimming the lyrics for the challenge at [info]charliepacefic, the bunny merged with another obsession of mine and there it is. Before someone has doubts/notices it, yes, I've got a kick for keeping Steve alive. He's the only named redshirt that has been around since the beginning and still isn't officially dead, so I keep him alive for the sake of it.

Title: Far from the Twisted Reach of Crazy Sorrow
Characters: Desmond, Sawyer, implied that Charlie is the focus of the fic
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Desmond? Not mine. Sawyer? Not mine. Charlie? Would be alive if he was. Mr Tambourine Man? Bob Dylan's. Strawberry Fields Forever? John Lennon's.
Word count: 2807
Spoilers: Up to Cabin Fever.
Summary: When everyone is gone, when everything is over and when they know they won’t ever be found again because the island is not there anymore, when Claire is still gone and Ben has disappeared into the Orchid, they set up a cross.
A/N: Written for the challenge #3 at [info]charliepacefic with the lyrics from Mr Tambourine Man by Bob Dylan and 'Living is easy with your eyes closed' from Strawberry Fields Forever by the Beatles. I don't know whether it's fine because while Charlie is actually the center of it he really isn't there physically, but it was good to write anyways. And I guess that since I'm using it for [info]philosophy_20 #2, loss, I couldn't make it any other way. And I'm done. I finished it. I finished it. *still can't believe it*

Sawyer says that it’s pretty shit for a funeral and Desmond has to agree; a funeral with nobody but three people on a hill where barely ten desiccated trees stand up is pretty horrible, indeed. )

Title: Sitting in a Diner on a Friday Afternoon
Characters: Jack, Desmond
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Desmond isn't mine, Jack isn't mine, nothing is mine.
Word count: 2060
Spoilers: For pretty much all of season four up to now.
Summary: Jack and Desmond have a drink post-island.
A/N: birthday fic for [info]elise_509 who prompted me with Jack and Desmond having a drink in the happy times after island before everything falls apart, taking into account that it's a perfect world where Des got off without being included in the O6 and is with Penny (don't we all wish for it!). Well, I think I've followed it quite closely, though maybe not exactly. Anyway, I hope you like it ♥! And if you don't, there's at least an image you should find alluring;) Using for [info]philosophy_20 #20, reflection. I acknowledge that the title is practically the reworking of the first four lines of Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega, but this has nothing to do with that song whatsoever.

When Jack parks the car just outside the diner where the appointment is, he realizes he’s early. )

So, thing is, I realizes I'm this close to finish this damned table and while I'm not too enthusiast about this one, I didn't know what the hell to make out of that prompt (I mean, I tried with four different bunnies and there wasn't one that sounded right) and decided to go with it. And I'm pretty sure that the Charlie section is sort of not good. However.

Title: Your Own Personal Jesus (or five times in which Desmond was one)
Characters: Desmond, plus Locke, Sawyer, Charlie, Penny and Sayid
Rating: PG13
Disclaimer: Desmond isn't mine, Lost isn't mine and Personal Jesus belongs to Depeche Mode.
Word count: 3106
Spoilers: Up to 4x09.
Summary: Exactly what the title says.
A/N: for [info]philosophy_20 #8, faith. The last section is not based on spoilers. I just speculated on what Ben did in 4x09. The idea definitely occurred while listening to that song in a completely random moment but apart from title, concept and section titles I didn't steal that much. Well, guess I stole much to begin with but whatever. I don't even know what I think of it myself. I only hope I didn't go OOC with anyone.

The last thing he remembers is Desmond saying he was going to see him in another life, then everything started to tremble, there was a blinding white light and he had lost his senses. )

fic, Lost: Miracle Drug (Desmond/Charlie), R, for [info]philosophy_20
I swear I'm done writing entries for today, really.

Title: Miracle Drug
Characters/Pairing: Desmond/Charlie aka smack to the future?
Rating: R
Disclaimer: So not mine. The end of S3 wouldn't have been the end of S3 if they were.
Word count: 3601
Spoilers: Up to Flashes Before Your Eyes. Set more or less around Par Avion time.
Summary: If he only could take a trip inside Desmond’s head the way he went on another kind of trips once, he thinks. But Charlie would need a miracle drug for it and he isn’t so sure that such a thing exists.
A/N: For [info]philosophy_20 #4, inertia. So, I had been wanting to write Des/Charlie for months and it didn't want to come together. Then last day I was listening to a U2 song and magically this thing started off alone and it kind of wrote itself. I didn't even know where the hell it was going until the last section or so. Uhm, I guess angst alert? Blatantly ignores everything that happened in S4. Thanks to/for [info]falafel_musings for giving this a look and the encouragement, with this in specific and with the pairing in general ;) Nominated for best slash fic at [info]lost_fic_awards, May 2008.

Title: Craphole Island’s Very First Open Shirt Seminar
Characters/Pairing: Desmond/Sayid, Jack/Sawyer, Sun/Jin, Charlie/Claire, Juliet/Kate and maybe someone else that I don't remember.
Rating: PG13
Disclaimer: If Lost was mine, it'd be like this. Clearly it isn't.
Word count: around 4800
Spoilers: Up to One of Us. AU because in this one Locke went back to camp.
Summary: Desmond holds a seminar on the subject he's most proficient in.
A/N: You know the crack where you blatantly ignore every possible issue a character might have in a story? This is it. If you're searching for serious, it isn't here. The slashing hasn't got any justification whatsoever, it's there because yours truly decided it was appropriate ;) thanks to [info]lasamy  for betaing this. Fic, Lost: You're Still Standing There (Desmond/Sayid), R, for [info]philosophy_20
Clearly doing two banners for two apocalyptic fics in one month has done tricks to my brain. But since I can't do apocalyptic and I can't kill anyone, this is probably weird. But I slashed them, finally.

Title: You're Still Standing There
Pairing: Desmond/Sayid, Desmond/Penny
Rating: R
Disclaimer: surely not mine. And this never happened and I hope it never does.
Word count: 4100
Spoilers: S4 up to now, one for 4x09.
Summary: kind of mad use of the [info]philosophy_20 prompt #1, birth. Also for [info]5_loves #1, reason. He knows that it would take nothing for Desmond to go on the shore and take that swim. He knows that if he did, the earth would tremble and shake, that everything would probably set on fire, that he could see the ocean waves from the porch of that house, that those walls would crumble upon him in piles of dust as all the rest would.
A/N: half apocalyptic, though no one dies. It kind of came out from the mix of the song prompt for day 7 at [info]lostsquee, 'If the world were ending, would you kiss me or just leave me?' and of the Steve Earle song up there in my header of which I've of course stolen the title. Don't ask me why that song suggested me this, I don't know myself. For [info]falafel_fiction because I said I'd write her Desmond/Sayid even if she didn't stump me on that meme and here it is. I sincerely hope it's halfway decent.

His body shakes violently and then he understands. It won’t let him go. The second he turned that key, he was doomed and if he tries to get away, it’s going to kill him and everyone on that ship. )

Since Jack and Sawyer today are not being cooperative, neither is Boone and neither is everyone else I try, I decided that it wouldn't hurt to edit a thing I had half done for a while.

Title: I Tried to Tell Everybody But I Couldn't Get My Thing Across
Rating: PG13
Characters: Desmond
Word counting: 608
Disclaimer: If Lost was mine, the main reason for which he's miserable here wouldn't have existed.
Spoilers: For The Beginning of the End.
Summary: You can’t move, watching them leave; guilt rips through every inch of your body and you can’t even bring yourself to cry because something is telling you that you’d be an hypocrite, if you did.
A/N: for [info]philosophy_20 #17, lack of God. I was actually very wary of doing it like this but it started to grow since the premiere and I guess it wasn't going to go away. It actually concerns the two things that give me most problems aka the second person POV and religion and the one I hated most in the last two seasons aka Charlie dying, but well, here it goes. Title stolen from a Bob Dylan song, but it's a line, not the title. I'm making progress in the art of stealing.

You go with Jack because it’s the only way to understand why those people are saying that Penny sent them and because if something happens, you figure that being the first in line can’t do any harm. )

Fic, Lost: Time is a Face in the Sky (Desmond, Sayid), Pg, for [info]philosophy_20
I think I'm in love with today's prompts at [info]lostsquee. I could write one for each of them really. And I think I'm going to have at least another one, but for now this one because it wouldn't go away. Oh, yeah, they are eating my mind. Quite.

Title: Time is a Face in the Sky
Characters: Sayid, Desmond
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Mine? Don't make me laugh. Please.
Word count: around 2000
Spoilers: light ones for Meet Kevin Johnson, heavy for The Economist
Summary: For [info]philosophy_20 #10, time. Desmond comes closer and his hand is on Sayid’s shoulder. Nothing more than that and he doesn’t say a thing, but Sayid doesn’t really need anything to be said right now; warmth floods through him and he closes his eyes, nodding, silently thankful. The only noise he can hear is the crashing of the waves against the freighter; he doesn’t know that he’s going to remember it as his last peaceful moment before everything came crashing down.
A/N: for the quote prompt at [info]lostsquee, day 2: In the mornings I would wake in different cities, underneath different stars. Only they were the same cities, too, in a way. They were still the same stars. Scott Bradfield ~ The History Of Luminous Motion. I don't know why they're stealing all my plots and how it came to this from that quote. I swear that when I planned for that challenge I had in mind ONE fic with Sayid, not four. *squishes them anyway* Title stolen from a quote from King's Dark Tower series. I only changed one word. I hate titles.

This was actually one of the first fics I had an idea for that challenge but something was missing. Then those prompts there gave me a hand and here it is. Hoping it's good ;)

Title: It's Been a Long Time Coming
Characters/Pairing: Desmond/Penny, Sawyer
Rating: PG13 to stay safe
Disclaimer: they're all Darlton's. And this is AU, so didn't happen, never will.
Word count: around 4000
Spoilers: For Through the Looking Glass.
Summary: For [info]philosophy_20 #18, and if the answer is no/can I change your mind?. The three years just passed have been the lowest point of her life and at the worst, she was sure that Desmond was dead. Sincerely, knowing that he is alive is much better than she could have hoped. She’s still in time to kick some sense into his head, as their seemingly mutual friend James Ford said, if he’s alive. She isn’t surprised anymore, nothing could surprise her right now and whatever happens, Penny is sure to be able to take it.
A/N: So, this actually covers three of the prompts for the first day of the S4 hiatus challenge at [info]lostsquee. Character prompt: Penny. Quote prompt: We are changed souls; we don’t look at things the same way anymore. For there was once a time when we expected the worst. But then the worst happened, did it not? And so we will never be surprised again.. AU prompt: in this one the boat was Penny's, everyone got rescued three days after the S3 finale, the whole Minkowski/Constant matter doesn't exist and Charlie didn't die. Wouldn't have worked otherwise. As usual, the title is Springsteen's even if the song doesn't have nothing to do with the fic. I lose at titles, damnit.

“Please, tell me that this is a joke.”, Penny says, staring into the pale green eyes of the man in front of her, hidden beneath blond bangs a good two inches longer than they should be. )

This one sad on my HD for a while but since it's short and I went and finished it, let's post it before starting with episode 8 icons.

Title: Fever Pitch
Characters: Desmond, light Des/Penny
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Desmond and Penny are Darlton's and if I owned the Celtics I'd sure be richer than I am.
Word count: 767
Spoilers: For Catch 22.
Summary: For [info]philosophy_20 #16, god. We dated for six years, and the closest you came to a religious experience was Celtics winning the Cup.
A/N: This is probably the best way to ditch an excellent prompt. I mean, I had lot of possibly angsty and serious stuff to work with and I don't use them. Blame it on me not being religious and not being able to approach that prompt seriously. And uhm, I actually researched that Scottish Cup final so I didn't invent a thing there. Title stolen from Nick Hornby, of whom I'm not worthy but I think he'd have a laugh out of it.

Scratch the Celtics, this is definitely his most religious experience. )

Title: Our Mutual Friends
Characters: Sayid, Desmond (may have some subtle slashy tones but still isn't proper slash)
Rating: PG13
Disclaimer: If they were mine, they would have showed this instead of showing the morning after.
Word count: too many.
Spoilers: if you haven's seen the first half of Ji Yeon, you're spoiled.
Summary: For [info]philosophy_20 #7, both sides. What happened after Frank left and before Desmond woke up the morning after?
A/N: So, there's much talking really about a variety of subjects from Kelvin to Charlie. And since I kind of tortured poor Desmond in my last one, I guess he'll get some good and sane consoling session, hoping I've kept the thing believable. For [info]elliotsmelliot because I say so and because our man needs to be taken care of ;)

Title: Fear in a Handful of Dust
Characters: Desmond, Kelvin
Rating: PG13
Disclaimer: If Kelvin was mine, he'd have suffered a much more painful death. And Desmond wouldn't have had a thing to do with it.
Word count: 1200 or so
Spoilers: for Live Together Die Alone.
Summary: For [info]philosophy_20 #19, caught in the form of limitation.Kelvin’s shadow looks increasingly dark against the pale gold of the rock, small clouds of dust rise under his feet and intoxicate him, sort of, but he doesn’t cough. He can’t cough, not until he finds out why is Kelvin here and why he has lied to him all this time.
A/N: I have written half of this one while waiting for lectures to start, actually. Since the prompt came from an Eliot poem this wanted to be done with Eliot, but I ended up with the one I like best. This is probably weird for me but well, I'll just go with it. And I solemnly swear that the next Desmond I write, I'll have Sayid thoroughly taking care of him to make up.

Fic, Lost: A Theory is not a Matter of Fact (Desmond/Daniel), R, for [info]philosophy_20
Uhm, okay, I'm a masochist. This thing has been eating my brain for a week but of course I'm one for complicated things and while I could have gone with Des' POV with which I'm waaaay more comfortable, I go with Dan. Which was a nut much more tough to crack than I thought, but I'll spare all the meta stuff that came to me while doing this. Possibly a lot of physics mistakes because I can't deal with it and time-travel theories kill my brain. Duh. That's so out of my comfort zone. Did I really do it?

Title: A Theory is not a Matter of Fact
Characters/Pairing: Desmond/Daniel
Rating: Nc17, erm.
Disclaimer: I couldn't ever manage to create a physician. Means Dan is sadly not mine. About Desmond, we all know the drill, don't we?
Word count: 2240
Summary: For [info]philosophy_20 prompt #6, theory. What's in Desmond's eyes, it’s calm; but there’s something underneath it, like the quiet before the storm or, better, a seemingly quiet river which is going burst and flood at any moment. Dan isn’t so sure that the banks are going to hold from long and thinks that well, he definitely doesn’t understand people and Desmond Hume most of all.

Fic, Lost: A Sort of Intuition (Desmond, Sayid, light Des/Sayid), PG, for [info]philosophy_20
Okay, and two thirds of the plot bunnies that episode gave me are done. Now I should do the Des/Dan one, but maybe I'll get over some other thing before since I still have to figure a couple of things out. Damn physics. And this one, duh, well, it begged to be done, methinks. And most of all, now I completed my third row of prompts. Should I be excited? And me, thinking that it was the last prompt I'd do because I didn't have an idea for it.

Title: A Sort of Intuition
Characters/Pairing: Desmond, Sayid, very light Sayid/Des if you squint hard
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: yeah, sure, they're mine. Do you think I'd be in here or off to have fun? Darlton owns them, surely not me.
Word count: 1399
Summary: For [info]philosophy_20 prompt #12, sixth sense. Desmond has always had a sort of gift for reading people; he knows that it really doesn’t show in this circumstance, but there’s a sort of intuition, a sixth sense maybe, telling him that the man in front of him is someone he can trust.
Spoilers: If you didn't see 4x05, I'm spoiling you the middle.
A/N: very little AU. In the sense that when Des goes back from Dan's lab, Minkowski is still out and assumes that the flash he has when he meets Widmore is split in two. All this because I needed to have poor Minkowski out, duh. Somewhat h/c, I guess.

The lock clicks and Sayid doesn’t even try to do a single thing about it; it wouldn’t be of any use and if there’s something helpful he can do right now, it isn’t trying to open the door. )

Okay, I was thinking of writing Jack/Juliet this weekend so I'd have written het anyway, but The Constant came and I had plot bunnies and Desmond and Penny came along. But I'll be on the J/J soon. Title: Extremely Far and Incredibly Close
Characters/Pairing: Desmond/Penny, Sayid
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: if he was mine, he'd be with her now, he wouldn't be needing to make extra-continental calls.
Word count: 1468
Summary: For [info]philosophy_20 prompt #13, love beyond desire. Everything is fractured, like pieces of a broken mirror; Desmond can see a thousand different reflections of himself in every scattered glass, but he can’t place the mirror back together and he knows that if he doesn’t do it now, he’s not going to do it again.
Spoilers:If you didn't see 4x05, I'm spoiling you the end.
A/N: My take on the ending of 'The Constant'. Shouldn't be too sappish, or at least so I hope ;) Title half stolen from a novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, where the Far wasn't far but Loud. I'm not worthy of cleaning his shoes, though.

Word count: A lot.
Summary: For [info]philosophy_20 prompt #3, ends justify the means. What happens when Desmond finds out the reason for which Locke had been pounding on the hatch door saving his life?
Spoilers: 'Deus ex Machina', general S3 and up to 'The Economist', then speculation.
A/N: This is probably the most brainstorming and time consuming thing I've ever done. It took me a month and a half to get it done, I was close to chunk it definitely and it's not like I'm actually sure it has sense, but whatever, I wanted to make them meet and they met. I adjusted a bit of things according to canon, but most of it is speculation and even if it can seem that I have theories, I swear I don't. Not even one. Sawyer wasn't exactly into the picture at the beginning but he popped up and I didn't resist having him there.

In the beginning, it was a simple question, nothing out of the ordinary, supposed to be forgotten just mere seconds after being asked. Nothing more than that. )

Characters: Desmond, some Penny and Charlie, implied Des/Penny
Rating: PG13

Word count: 3500
Summary: For [info]philosophy_20  prompt #11, extrinsic. The first time Desmond heard Mozart’s music, it was at his first job with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Spoilers: from 'Flashes Before Your Eyes' to the S3 finale; goes AU after it (means, uhm, Charlie lives).
A/N: I had wanted to do something on these lines since I saw 'Live Together Die Alone'; I think I really fell for Des when I found out he listened to Mozart. This has been sitting on my HD for at least a month and I still don't understand what to make of it, if it's any good or if it's too much of an exaggeration/if I pushed too much on the base of five seconds on show, but I really can't edit it all that much anymore and so it goes. Minor speculation about our man's younger days. About the Barbican Center, I actually researched and found out there's a theater there where the Royal Shakespeare Company set up some plays, though I don't know whether in the Hall they actually do opera and not only symphonic. Author's license, I guess. Now you can also read it with the dvd commentary turned on!

So, my lovely beta worked and I demand to take a pause from Aristotle's logic to post the thing.

Title: Good Readings
Characters: Desmond, Sawyer
Rating: PG13 mostly because Sawyer has some language.
Disclaimer: If Lost was mine, this would have happened on show.
Word count: around 3200
Summary: Desmond really feels sorry for drinking Sawyer's scotch and wants to make up for it someway. Set right after Enter 77, probably spoilers up to that point. For [info]philosophy_20 prompt #14, parallel.
A/N: I planned on making Des interact with almost everyone on camp for these prompts and well, yeah, I started with Sawyer again. It probably is because they're becoming my safe zone or something. I swear I'm breaking out of it next time, really. Anyway, this is mostly about me having a literature fixation, Sawyer and Desmond having a literature fixation, the show not taking advantage of it and me wanting to do something about it. And maybe something will sound obscure if you didn't read/have an idea of what the Brothers Karamazov and Wuthering Heights are about but I didn't spoil any book plot. And I'll stop rambling.

A/N: Not much to say about this, really. One moment I was brainstorming on Aristotle and next one I had this little bunny. Then I fed him and here it is. Nothing canon hasn't said, but whatever ;)
