the random post with Golden Globes talking and stuff
1. The hamletic doubt of the week: why does every doctor I meet when doing blood tests assuming that one feels uncomfortable with needles/has to panic/is nervous? I mean, it's not like I actually enjoy it but I don't mind it either, I don't care about needles and I don't panic. But I still haven't encountered anyone who doesn't think I'll freak out as soon as I see a needle. Oh well.

2. Golden Globes wins were mostly awesome!!

a. Just because I have to mention it first, GO BRUCE! I'm so so glad he won for best song. That was such a gorgeous song anyway, it totally deserved it. Also? His acceptance speech -> cutest thing like, ever.

All right! This is, uh, the only time I’m gonna be in competition with Clint Eastwood, I know that for sure. Felt pretty good, too. *giggles* [OMG! Ha, now that's a competition. Indeed. *dies*] Anyway, Mickey called me in Ireland and he asked me for, uh, some music, he told me a little bit about the character, he said some people invest themselves in their pain and they turn away from love and the things that strengthen and nurture their lives. He said this was a guy that didn’t figure, hadn’t figured that out. So I said well, I know a couple of those guys. And so, the song. So uh, first and foremost I’d like to thank Mickey. Without the call I wouldn’t have written the song. Without his inspiration. Thank you brother, for a beautiful performance, thank you. Thanks for thinking of me. Um, like to thank Darren and all the folks involved with the film for letting me be a small part of their picture, thank you. Uh, love to my strong and lovely wife Patti, and hello to Evan, Jess, and Sam at home. Happy birthday Big Man, Clarence Clemons![I love that he made him the birthday wishes on there and that it was the last thing. Oh, Bruce, you love your band so and I love you AND your band so. ♥]

^ Uhm, Mickey Rourke should take some style lessons from the guy but I forgive him. ;)

♥ ♥ ♥

And ha, sorry Clint. But Clint always wins something either there or at the Oscars while Bruce kind of does once every fifteen years. Even thought I'd have loved to see Changeling win for best score at least.

b. Then of course go Mickey Rourke!! That was a stunning performance and he totally deserved the win. I kind of need to fix the fact that I haven't seen any of the other movies who were nominated for best actor. Argh, I need to see Milk ASAP.

c. Aw, Heath. I'm really happy he won, even though... well, you know. *sigh*

d. Yay for Kate Winslet! I haven't seen the movie but I always thought she was a very good actress so go her.

e. Meh, I liked Vicky Cristina Barcelona but even if I haven't seen In Bruges (which I should) and Happy-Go-Lucky (same thing) I can't believe it won over Burn After Reading. Seriously? I liked the latter better and if you had to choose a comedy then I'd have gone for that. Oh well.

f. Yay for Colin Farrell! Mm, I need to see In Bruges. Even if I'm out of the total crush phase I had on the guy some four/five years ago I still totally like him so go him indeed.

g. Can't say a thing about the dramas since I haven't seen even one. Well, only Slumdog Millionaire was out here, in my defense. And by the way, they didn't nominate Changeling in there? Bummer.

h. The Italian movie didn't won for best Foreign film but considering the reviews Valzer With Bashir got I don't really complain.

i. I'm sadly so behind with the television stuff. When will I get time to watch Mad Men? *sigh*

l. Johnny Depp looked freaking GOOD. *licks lips*

And that was a worthy note on which I could close this. ;)

3. I'm ridiculously excited for Supernatural being back in three days. And for Lost, too, of course. And I'm pretty unspoiled in comparison to last year, even if I know something. Nothing too big at least, but there was just half of a big spoiler around and I didn't read it, so...

4. I finally found The Stand in English! Totally can't wait to re-read it.

5. Tagged from gottalovev, meme!

List sixteen random things about yourself, then tag sixteen people to do the same.

1. More than once it happened that while I was talking to someone said person figured out something that was troubling him/her even if I had said barely nothing. Guess I'm a good listener?

2. I hate getting up early with a vengeance.

3. I haven't read a book written by an Italian author which wasn't for school since years.

4. When I was seven or eight I was convinced that John Lennon and Paul McCartney had been secretly married.

5. I find American accents easier to understand than English accents on a general rule. Also, side to this, once I made some of those online tests supposed to they tell you in which way you pronounce English and it ended up I had a Pennsylvania/New Jersey accent. It didn't exactly surprise me.

6. Apart from Neil Gaiman's stuff, I never managed to read a fantasy book other than Lord of The Rings/The Hobbit/The Silmarillion. I love Tolkien but the rest of the genre is just not my thing.

7. I've never been hospitalized.

8. I learned how to sew when I was thirteen. I never took the religion hour at school because there was the option, but they were obliged to make me stay with some teacher in order to do something else and since I ended up with the music one who didn't have any better ideas she taught me that. Not that I can do anything fancy, but I can patch up my clothes at least.

9. I wish I had studied French better (and always have in program to rectify it). Apart from the fact that I find it the sexiest language ever existed, I just have a thing for France. I love the history, I love the literature and I don't mind when France wins in France vs Italy football matches. ;) And also, they have the best cinemas.

10. One of the few things I hate about Rome is that you just can't go around on bicycle. Apart from the fact that since, uhm, we're built on hills it's not like going when it's flat, but the traffic is terrible and I seriously admire the few people I see around who do. I don't know how it is that they don't get themselves killed.

11. I love vegetables. Well, not every vegetable, but I eat a lot of green stuff.

12. Some friend of mine once told me that I get obsessed over fictional characters/famous people because since I'm an atheist I need to fill the void that the lack of a religion creates. I always thought it was one of the most stupid and at the same time hilarious things I've ever been told actually.

13. I hate discussing politics. I tend to get seriously angry when I do.

14. I wish I liked driving. I really do. But I just don't. *sigh*

15. I like dark chocolate. The darker it is the better. I can't stand white and while I don't have a problem with milk one, dark is just another thing altogether.

16. Oh, I don't know anymore. Uhm, I like cats. ;)

6. Uhm, I think I'm done. Pretty much.

(vai vai che io dovrei scrivere pure ma ho bisogno di sbloccarmi XDD)

LOL seriously. My mother was like 'but John was with Yoko Ono and Paul was with Linda' and I was always like 'meh, covers. Come on, they loved each other!!'. Well, one wouldn't wonder I grew up like I did, right? ;)

Re my own, I think it's because right now the last author worth reading wrote most of his stuff in the fifties. There isn't a single Italian author out right now who is IMHO really good/worth reading but meh. I really wouldn't know either.

LOL same thing here. ;) Oh yes, you NEED to see Mickey Rourke. I don't give a damn about wrestling and actually I always found it pretty disturbing but I just loved the movie. He's so good in there.

Clint IS the man indeed! And I need to see Gran Torino asap. I've got it downloaded but I was waiting until it was out in cinemas here, except that I don't think I'll manage.

1. Same thing here. And I really don't understand it.
2. I didn't watch the Golden Globes, but I'm very happy that Kate and Heath won. Just because ... ;) And I haven't watched Mad Men yet, either.
3. Never watched Supernatural, but OMG, LOST! (God. Let's hope they don't screw it up.)

When I was seven or eight I was convinced that John Lennon and Paul McCartney had been secretly married.

Yay, finally someone else! It's true that most people I know freak out while seeing needles but still. I don't really get why they wouldn't believe me when I say I don't care.

I didn't watch them either, too late here. ;) But I'm so glad for the nominees. And why, we're two again! ;)

Re Lost -> indeed. *sigh* Let's hope indeed.

And wasn't I just an adorable child? ;)

The wins were awesome, I'm so happy for Mickey and Slumdog and Kate.

I was waiting for your reaction to Bruce!!

Ha, I couldn't not have a Bruce reaction!! *dies again* and yeah, for once I'm really happy with the results.

People don't seem to understand the awesomeness that is Burn After Reading. It was pure genius.

I love your icon! Burn After Reading should have won on that scene alone!

I thought you would be pleased with most of The Globe results! (I think the Bruce/Clint comment was a secret shout-out to you.) “The Wrestler” was the first song I listened to this morning on my iPod. That was definitely my favourite movie of the year, surpassing Wall.e I saw The Reader recently and it was okay. It was definitely a challenging role for Kate. I adored Burn After Reading and even though I had not seen the other nominees and cannot compare, it so should have won.

At least SPN was on this fall! I feel Lost has been gone forever.

I guess doctors are so conditioned to the stereotype of people hating needles, that they feel they need to make a big deal about it, so people don't faint or run away from them. Sorry that you’ve have so many tests lately. I hope your arms are not bruised.

Woo hoo for The Stand!

4. When I was seven or eight I was convinced that John Lennon and Paul McCartney had been secretly married.

Ha! Who is to say you were not right

I blame your New Jersey accent on Bon Jovi!

Apart from Neil Gaiman's stuff, I never managed to read a fantasy book other than Lord of The Rings/The Hobbit/The Silmarillion. I love Tolkien but the rest of the genre is just not my thing.

I couldn’t even do that. I tried to get through Fellowship but just could not. I will give Gaiman a chance. I have a problem with made up words.

Maybe we should try to do the GFG in France! There is that Lost actors/producer thing in Paris this April but I think that would conflict with most people school schedules.

the female ghost of tom joad: lotr faramir <3 <3janie_tangerine on January 13th, 2009 08:59 am (UTC)
Ha, I was pleased indeed. And Bruce mentioning Clint? Oh, he was so thinking about me, I just know. ;) That song was just so good, he outdone himself. I think I'll go seeing The Reader when it's out here, which will be probably in two months. Oh well. Re Burn After Reading, it probably was the best of the bunch even if I've only seen VCB. Which wasn't on par with it at all.

Yeah, I feel that way re Lost, too. I still don't know whether the shorter seasons were a good idea or not.

I guess it's a professional thing, but the thing that makes me puzzled is that they still keep on fussing over it when I tell them I donate blood. I mean, if I can do that what's a blood test in comparison? *shrugs* well, I just hope they're over. The arms are okay but I'd really like not to do any for the next ten years or so.

I blame your New Jersey accent on Bon Jovi!

No joking, that's probably it. Him and Bruce. Looks like I'll be in my environment the day I go to NJ!

Fellowship is the worst one of the three. The first half is seriously so boring I was wanting to tear my hair out, but was betting with myself that I'd have finished it. It took me two weeks to get through Fellowship alone, but then it picks up. I finished the rest in five days or something. But I usually hate made-up words, too. Which you don't find in Gaiman or at least not that I can remember. ;) What I like about Gaiman is that his stories are mostly set in the real world, not in some fantasy-made up one.

Ouch, April isn't exactly the best month but Paris would be a lovely place. Mm, I really need to have a poll out asap. Paris would be great indeed. ♥

4. When I was seven or eight I was convinced that John Lennon and Paul McCartney had been secretly married.
:DDDDDD LOLLL. That's just awesome. ;)

I agree about American accents being easier than English - at least on TV. In my case, I think it's due to the fact that I'm much more used to hearing those accents, thanks to TV shows.

Parole SANTISSIME direi! ;)

I love what facts people share! :)

awesome. and why is it that I find French not sexy at all and Italian is, huh? yeah right, the power of the difference! lol!

I hate speaking politics, it always ends badly. I have way different stands than the people that want to discuss it and it usually ends up with "shut up, let's just not talk about this, there is no use" :/

the void things is HILARIOUS. does that mean that some religious people are god's fanboys/fangirls?
the female ghost of tom joad: ian somerhalder b/w <3janie_tangerine on January 13th, 2009 08:31 pm (UTC)
Ha, glad I chose interesting facts! ;)

Well, Italian can be sexy, but I guess that when you speak a language currently it's hard to find it actually sexy. I totally love French, indeed. *sigh*

Indeed re politics. Especially right now here it's just a sore subject. And I tend to get very angry and curse quite a lot before reaching the 'let's just stop here' point. *sigh*

does that mean that some religious people are god's fanboys/fangirls?

I figure it does! ;) For how I got it, I think that he didn't understand that not believing in God doesn't leave me... empty or lacking something, but whatever. That was indeed so hilarious that I couldn't even find an answer. Well, guess that it means I have an excuse to start the Boone Carlyle religion?

And YOUR ICON!!! *dies* it's awesome!
