Lost 5x13 Some Like It Hoth
Okay, I'm seriously, seriously disappointed in the title not maintaining what it promises on the Some Like It part. Seriously, where was the crossdressing? Where was the alcohol? Where was the ukulele? Where was someone dancing tango? Why didn't someone say nobody's perfect? Faaaaail. They shouldn't tease me like this.

Team OMG MILES GOT A CENTRIC!

1. Mm, I guess nothing we didn't know/we couldn't imagine but I had wanted to see more of Miles for a while and it did work in that regard.

2. Punk!Miles was actually awesome. Ken Leung is really good, btw. Even if I prefer him clean-shaven.

3. So, the guy who kidnapped Miles, who also was Clint's son in Gran Torino, isn't on Widmore's team. Which means Ilana is not on Widmore's team. Which means they're on Ben's...? *headdesk* Fine, I give up.

4. Everyone and their walls had guessed about Candle being his dad I guess.

4b. LOL, of course Candle likes country. He listens to Willie Nelson. *rolls eyes*

5. Also, Miles is named after Miles Davis? That's actually great. But... mm, wasn't that a deal about someone not being able to be in the past if they were already there? I mean, since Miles already was born shouldn't he have been unable to be in the same time...? Ah well, I give up on that too.

6. The backstory was very interesting though. I'm glad we had it even if this felt a bit filler-y.

6b. Also, MILES HAS DADDY ISSUES TOO!!!!

Is there someone who doesn't anymore...?

Team Hurley, you're not just the comic relief

7. The Star Wars thing was pretty much hilarious even if as Miles said it was kind of stupid because really, how he was going to send George Lucas the script? At least it fulfilled the purpose of naming the episode like that.

8. Also, didn't all the Star-Wars-like theories say that Jack was Luke and Christian was Darth Vader..? People, we had it all wrong. Now I just need to get who the hell is Leia (we all know who is Han Solo, right?).

9. Also, I don't care if Hurley sees ghosts if I don't see them too. *hint*

10. And really, I think they're overdoing it with the comic relief thing. I get that they don't have a comic relief anymore except for Hurley and so he gets all the comic stuff but seriously, it's a better character than that. Now that they gave Miles an episode where he wasn't will they just realize it?

Team Jack the janitor >>> you

11. Why didn't I have a janitor like him when I was at school? Really, why? Because I'd have gone to school much more willingly.

12. Also, was that Egyptian stuff on the blackboard? Please, please, do not bring Egypt into this. *sigh*

13. I loved Jack. Why, what news. But I liked that he was standing up for Kate (!!!) for the actual right reasons, I like him fussing with cleaning material, I loved him going to Sawyer to inform him (damnnn, I need to fic sometime) and being all laid back with Juliet and basically chilling out. I ♥ Jack so.

Team Dharma initiative should have been a hippie commune

14. Argh, I see bad things in the future. Sawyer, why did you punch the guy? So not good.

15. Please, someone cut Horace's hair and make him lose some weight. I always expect him to say he's a useless piece of meat and that he wants to go wrestling.

16. I really can't get why Roger cares so much. It completely doesn't relate with the 3x20 Roger. What's with daddy of the year thing?

17. Also, Kate, good intentions but they don't know you lost your 'son' too.

18. DANIEL!!!! ♥ HE'S BACK!! ♥ FINALLY. I can't wait for the next episode.

DANIEL! Yes, I missed him. ♥

19. Not Dharma related but yay Naomi and nay Captain Hotass? ://

Team everything else

20. Duh, I didn't like the Ewoks by the way. I always was in SW for Han Solo anyway.

21. When Miles spoke to the second dead guy with Naomi didn't he say something about a Daniel Widmore...? Or I misheard?

22. Anyway, it wasn't the best episode ever but I liked it if only for the Miles backstory. And Candle liking country. How do you dig Steve Earle?

23. IT LACKED CROSSDRESSING, I say.

1/2. I agree, I wasn't expecting it, but I liked it.

5. I think that thing about not being able to be in the past and the present at the same time came from fan speculation and other movies/books and not from canon, though I'm not really sure.

6. yes! Although we still don't know *why* he has those powers.

6b. *eyeroll* Are you surprised?

7. I loved it.

9. ooh, good point! *hints too*

10. I loved Hurley, this time he had good advice and wasn't just the comic relief, imo. But I still hope they give him something more to do.

13. I agree to all that, and I loved Jack too. :)
But I think he wasn't that smooth while talking to Horace, he kind of threatened him, at least with the body language, instead of convincing him. But it looks like it was only my impression, so that's good.

14. heh. He didn't have much choice. I hope he takes eponine119's suggestion and pins Ben's kidnapping in him!

18. yay for Daniel!

20. I liked Luke too, even if Han Solo was the best (as always for me, the righteous "hero" is the first one I love, and then I shift my love to the snarky son of a bitch - it happened the same with Lost, though here I love Jack and Sawyer the same)

21. No, I think he said "a guy named Widmore" - at least the subs said so.

23. LOL. *nods*

1) At least we had some nice backstory, which is always good.

5) Yeah, probably it was all speculation and I kind of assumed it. Which makes things interesting.

6) Maybe they'll explain it in another moment?

6b) Not really. *rolls eyes* Damn, everyone left is failing me.

10) I loved him too actually, but I just wish he did something more than hanging out and being the sidekick.

13) He probably wasn't exactly smooth but considering that Horace was probably drunk too he was effective.

14) Good idea!

20) Oh, I totally liked Luke too. Han was my love thought. ♥ It probably was also the Harrison Ford factor.

21) Guess I probably misheard, thanks for clarifying. ;)

23) WE NEED IT! Where is all the fun? *pouts*

A great title, but you're right about them missing the Wilder opportunities. Despite the fact that I like Miles I was a little bored with this episode because I had already put the pieces together about his background and like you, the silly Hurley stuff is getting weaker and weaker. And the daddy issues are so boring, though I now have an idea for a cracky fic. I did like the last scene with Miles and Candle and little baby Miles reading about polar bears because I am a sap.

Captain Hotass! Ooooh, that would have been so much better than Naomi, who for not particular reason I always want to punch in the face when I see her, then feel guilty because she is pretty cool and it’s ridiculous how she died.

I hadn't noticed it when I watched, but yes, Jack was certainly the smartest in the episode….Kate and Sawyer, not so much.

Daniel!!!!! Welcome back!!!!

As for the new statue/shadow people? It looks like they are an independent third party, which we so don’t need at this stage. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Ben, “Can you just kill them all so we can go back to our old friends?”

*Confession* Since I saw Jedi when was 7 years old, I have a soft spot for the ewoks. If Hurley was really smart he should send new prequel scripts to Lucas so we can never have Jar Jar.
the female ghost of tom joad: lost boone dead but PRETTYjanie_tangerine on April 16th, 2009 06:57 pm (UTC)
Yeah, they missed all the fun! *pouts* Gah, I need to go and write that AU. Among all the other things I should do.

I liked the episode alright even if you're right, it was kind of predictable. Apart from him being a punk once, probably. Hurley needs to do something. And YAY for crack!fic about daddy issues, that's awesome to hear! Oh, I liked that last scene too. The one with baby!Miles I mean.

Poor Naomi, you're so right about her. Which doesn't mean I wouldn't have had Captain Hotass in a heartbeat. I miss the guy too much for the screen time he had.

I like Jack being the smart one again. He might not be back to his all-hero ways but for now I'm perfectly fine with it.

It looks like they are an independent third party, which we so don’t need at this stage. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Ben, “Can you just kill them all so we can go back to our old friends?”

Ah, I'm so with you. Really, another one? We so did not need that. *headdesk* just kill them off and bring Charlie back, or Boone or Shannon or someone we know.

And aw, you're so right about the prequel scripts! Also, he should write in capitals not to cast Hayden Christensen but that's my humble opinion. I never really knew what to make of the ewoks but I'd have had them in a heartbeat over the second and third prequel. (Well, in the first one there was Liam Neeson and Ewan without that beard and there was no Hayden Christensen. It was more bearable IMHO, even if every SW geek with whom I shared my opinion always looked disgusted.)

There's as many daddy issues in this TV shows as baby births. I wonder what all these issues have to do with the general plot at the end, IF they have something to do. But yeah, I'm guessing they do, it wouldn't be very original of them to give such a simialr background to most of the characters, lol.

And Jack really ruled in this episode. I wish we got to see more of him, but hey, that was a lot better than nothing. And he was great with the whole Kate thing, so a fangirl can't really ask for more :) At least in this episode he didn't look like the bad one.
the female ghost of tom joad: lost jack/julietjanie_tangerine on April 16th, 2009 06:50 pm (UTC)
I think there are more daddy issues, but only because women have daddy issues as well as men while men can't exactly deliver babies. But seriously, wtf? Apart from Jin isn't there anyone with a functional human being as a father? (not that Jin didn't have his issues, but it was his own doing, his dad is awesome.)

INDEED re Jack. It was so refreshing really. Can he stay like this forever?
inthekeyofd: Sawyer-dimples-mediocrechickinthekeyofd on April 16th, 2009 02:46 pm (UTC)

I loved this episode, poor Miles and his daddy issues..but I swear how cute was baby Miles and Daddy!!!

11. Why didn't I have a janitor like him when I was at school? I know, I swear I'd bang those erasers for him every damn day!!!
12. Egypt is already there though.
14. Sawyer had to do something though, he was going to tell..he thought quickly...now he's really screwed
18. DANIEL!!!!
21. nope, she talked about charles.
22. I really REALLY liked this episode.
the female ghost of tom joad: lost faradayjanie_tangerine on April 16th, 2009 06:48 pm (UTC)
I liked it, not to insane degrees but I think it was a good ep. Of course he had daddy issues but AW, yeah, he was so cute. *sniff*

11) INDEED. I'D SO DO IT TOO.
12) Yeah, but I was hoping they didn't go there in the end. I hate Egypt in fictional things. It always turns out lame in my experience.
14) Indeed. Not a good idea at all.
18) DAAAAANIEEEEEEEL. ♥
21) Thanks, I had totally misheard it.

So, the guy who kidnapped Miles, who also was Clint's son in Gran Torino, isn't on Widmore's team. Which means Ilana is not on Widmore's team. Which means they're on Ben's...? *headdesk* Fine, I give up. Lulz that is so my reaction to this scene. I was like: Wait, so it's three teams now?!

Jack was so good. I was a little worried there, but he was so gorgoeus.

Dan is fucking back! OMG I was so happy to see him again. Even though for a second I thought that maybe he wouldn't remember Miles, which would have been a huge twist...

Also I vote for more Miles in general.
the female ghost of tom joad: lost milesjanie_tangerine on April 16th, 2009 06:40 pm (UTC)

Word. We need moar Miles in our life.

Jack was perfect. Seriously. I don't care how many teams they come up with, I'm on team Jack and that's settled. That scene was completely crazy, lol. I've lost the count.

AND YES DAN IS BACK. ♥

I actually really liked this episode! I'm not sure exactly why, but something about it hit the spot for me. And actually, for the first time, I felt a twinge of something for Miles besides amusement. That scene at the end with his dad holding him as a baby was all kinds of awwww.
And Jack. I wish we could see more of him. I agree, there are no janitors like him anywhere , are there? I've really liked him since he's been back to the island, he's just kind of laid back which is better for him, although I kind of love him as hero!Jack as well.
Kate needs to be quiet and quit messing things up.
#9-so sorry for you! Maybe one day...
#18-Daniel! Where the hell did he come from...go to...???
#19-if they had showed Captain Hotass, that would have been a beautiful thing.
the female ghost of tom joad: lost captain hotassjanie_tangerine on April 16th, 2009 06:43 pm (UTC)
Oh, I liked it too! Not to insane degrees but I thought it was good. And yeah, they hadn't used Miles's drama potential until now but that scene was aaawww.

The lack of Jack-like janitors is something reproachful. Ah, mine were all women or absolutely not in the league. I prefer him laid back too right now. He doesn't need to play hero right now IMHO.

Ha, I keep hoping for 9. I've lost it for this season but next one maybe..?

IDK but DANIEL!!!!!!!! *fangirls like woah*

YES INDEED. I miss Captain Hotass a lot. A real lot.
the awkward young shadow: jack is batmangwape on April 16th, 2009 06:28 pm (UTC)
Since Darlton has cited Star Wars as an influence, I was just expecting a reference to the Hoth part when I heard the title. I didn't really think they'd do the Some Like It part.

I really liked this ep, with the new centric stuff it kinda reminded me of old school LOST... back when Boone was around. Sigh.

Also I think I was the only one in the world who didn't see Pierre Chang as his dad coming. Just because there are two Asians in the show doesn't mean they have to be related. That's kind of a sad commentary on race in itself. :/

I WANT MORE GHOSTS TOO! Team Zombie!Charlie and Zombie!Boone, what?

Jack... oh my god I want to marry this fictional person. He is so amazing. He would SO be anal about his cleaning supplies all in the right place and I don't like Kate, but the way Jack stood up for her NOT for the stupid shipping but just because it was the right thing to do made me really happy. You know that he was kickin' it with Juju for a good while before Sawyer came in. ;)

FARADAY ILU!!!!
the female ghost of tom joad: lost jack **janie_tangerine on April 16th, 2009 06:47 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I hadn't expected that either actually, but you know. One always hopes.

(Which means I need to get myself out of my hole and write the Lost! Some Like It Hot AU I have in my head since months. Which was going to be Jack/Boone actually.)

Mm, I thought it first thing, but not because they were Asian. Mostly because they implied that Miles had been on the island and when they showed Candle having a baby in the first episode there wasn't really no one else I could have thought about except for Sun but that'd have been a stretch. Or at least I read it in so many places before this aired that it came as confirmation.

YES TEAM ZOMBIE PLEASE. Boone preferably since he's MIA since S3.

He would SO be anal about his cleaning supplies all in the right place and I don't like Kate, but the way Jack stood up for her NOT for the stupid shipping but just because it was the right thing to do made me really happy. You know that he was kickin' it with Juju for a good while before Sawyer came in. ;)

Can I marry this paragraph, then jack and then we can share? Because uhm, yes. That'd be it. I sure as hell don't ship Jack/Kate but I liked him standing up for her because of that. -nod-

FARADAY = ♥. Totally.
the awkward young shadow: neato!gwape on April 16th, 2009 06:53 pm (UTC)
OMG I am on Jack/Boone like... well... get gets on Boone... I have a few Jack/Boone fics myself but atm they're posted on an rp journal. I think I should consolidate my stuff sometime.

Yeah I remembered the baby, but I dunno. It still seems very pigeonhole-y to me but not really anything to get offended by.

I swear if they keep teasing us with Boone and not delivering I will cut a bitch.

Yes to all! Then Booner can come in and have his fun with Jack and we can watch. ^^

I missed him so!
the female ghost of tom joad: lost boone ---> XQ________janie_tangerine on April 16th, 2009 07:00 pm (UTC)
Oh, do it! There's a serious lack of that pairing around, there needs to be more. That thing I wanted to do was an AU which went basically like, Jack and Sawyer are Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon and Boone is Marilyn Monroe, but I need to work out a couple of things first. I'm writing it someday though.

I swear if they keep teasing us with Boone and not delivering I will cut a bitch.

*raises hand* I'm coming with you! *sigh* And I'm totally with you on the team zombie. *misses the guy like woah*
Stephanie: LOST. Daniel; constantslybrunette on April 16th, 2009 07:57 pm (UTC)
You know it's really sad when this is the first episode in about five that I could stand. Come to find out I just really like Miles. And Hurley. And Jack. And Daniel. Very few other people.

Also, seriously, writers, if you're going to title it like this please FOLLOW THROUGH. LOL.
the female ghost of tom joad: lost faradayjanie_tangerine on April 16th, 2009 08:04 pm (UTC)
Now they make me want to write that AU I wanted even if I have way too many things on my hands to finish, but I should do it just out of spite to show them that you can, if you want. *rolls eyes*

Miles is great. I'm kinda liking the season tbh even if it's not being exactly mindblowing. And word on Jack/Hurley/Daniel.

any news on the Springsteen wank going on over there in ol Italy?
I told my mom who (since she likes to poke around for her children apparently) searched and emailed some random ticket place... and no one knew anything.
