birthday + very, very random post indeed
1. Happy birthday alemyrddin!

I hope you're having a great day and best wishes for the next year and overall! ♥ ♥ (Also, I had started a luau thing for you which I might have out in a short while if things cooperate, so keep your eyes open. ;) )

2. So, last day I go out to do stuff, I end up at the bookshop and see that there are a new Hornby novel and a new Atwood one out. Why, why do hardbacks cost so much? *sigh* I'll wait for the paperbacks. Meanwhile I bought myself Neil Gaiman's short stories and since it was on serious discount (like, 70%), the Band Of Brothers box set. The FSM knows when I'll watch it, but I really wanted to check it out. Besides, I need to see stuff set in WWII at the moment.

3. Disney princesses meme from hopelessfangirl just for kicks. Also because my favorite Disney female always was Esmeralda (with Meg in tow) and she's not included, which is fail. Meh, this meme is racist. Just because they're not strictly princesses doesn't mean you don't include them.

Uh. Belle is actually my favorite of them all along with Jasmine which came second, so..

4. wandersfound has hooked me on Wallflowers even without exactly meaning it. Not complaining. They're good. Really good. *grabs stuff from downloads* INDEED good.

5. SPN and the vampire pornography are airing in three days!! (well, four for me...) *is excited* Also, the vampire pornography pilot is getting decent votes from pre-airs. I'm not hoping that it isn't completely lame yet, but if it ends up being also half-decent I wouldn't complain. Also, I find it awesome that His Prettiness is doing stuff for the Red Cross in order to promote blood donation using his vampire role as a mean. Considering the whole transfusion thing with Boone I can't help finding it also slightly amusing, but seriously, I love that he's doing that. ♥

6. So, I spent yesterday cleaning my bookshelves. And the floor. Now I should clean the desks but that's for next week. Result? I realized I have at least three shelves' worth of to-read stuff. Someone will please remember me why the hell do I still go anywhere near bookshops? *sigh*

7. Uhm, all for the random post for now I guess? I'll see if I can crank up some writing. Or some studying, if I gather up enough force of will. *waves*

Oooh, Wallflowers! I really only know their popular stuff that was on the radio in the 90s, but I do like them very much. Jakob Dylan is a chip off the ol' block (and luckily has a voice that is more pleasing to the ear than his dad. ;))

LOL @ "SPN and the vampire pornography" That sounds about accurate. ;)

the female ghost of tom joad: the vampire thingjanie_tangerine on September 7th, 2009 09:08 pm (UTC)
LOL, for how much I do like his dad I have to admit that Jakob's voice is indeed more pleasing. Even though I think that if Bob Dylan could actually properly sing he wouldn't be Bob Dylan. ;) They're so good!!

HA, I decided it was pornography after that promo picture where she's lying and they're both biting/licking/touching her neck with their mouth. I stared at it for like five minutes and then said, THIS IS SOFT PORN and everyone next to me was agreeing, lol.

Band Of Brothers box set

I bought the DVDs & watched the series not long ago, and thought it was awesome. Ron Livingston's video diary is hilarious!

SPN on Thursday! Er, Friday.

Good to know! I always loved stuff set in WWII and I had it recced a ton of times so I figured I could go for it.

AND YES, FOUR DAYS! YAY! Good thing for US people that they get it in three..

Hi hun. I hate to do this, but I really have to ask about the lostfichallenge banners.
the female ghost of tom joad: tangerinesjanie_tangerine on September 7th, 2009 09:29 pm (UTC)
Ouch, sorry, I was planning on finishing them in August and then in August I spent the amount of five days at home and I couldn't finish anything. But I had started and I wanted to post everything at once, would that be okay if I posted everything within the week? I had about half done so I should manage. Sorry again for the lateness, this year between RL and Photoshop dying on me I did a sucky job with that.
Amanda: stock → little miss sunshineisis2015 on September 7th, 2009 09:37 pm (UTC)
would that be okay if I posted everything within the week?

Of course. :) I really just wanted to check in to see if you were still able to or how much you'd done so far. I know how RL gets in the way (it did me a few times when I made the banners) so that's perfectly okay. I just thought I'd check in and see where you were at.

thank you for the wonderful gift - and for the luau fic to come, too!!

alemyrddin: HurleyDudeVanalemyrddin on September 7th, 2009 09:57 pm (UTC)
oh, wait, I just read the rest of your post... a new Hornby novel? Interesting! I'll check it out!
the female ghost of tom joad: ILUjanie_tangerine on September 7th, 2009 11:29 pm (UTC)
It will come soon! When I manage to finish that, but I shouldn't take too much. ;) And yeah, I didn't even know that but I found the hardback there and it looks good! I'll probably buy that when there's the economic edition out.
valhalla37valhalla37 on September 7th, 2009 10:48 pm (UTC)
4. Wallflowers are SO. GOOD. I always forget how much I like them until I hear them again. And Jakob Dylan's voice -- incredible!

5. LOLOLOL, re: "vampire pornography". Pretty much, eh? Though I've only seen the commercials and vaguely remember the book series from when I was younger. My fiance is now officially hooked on SPN -- he spent part of the other night excitedly recounting all of last season (though he's really bad with names, and it took me ages to figure out "Lydia" was actually "Lilith", lol) so apparently I'll be watching the new season too!
the female ghost of tom joad: the vampire thingjanie_tangerine on September 7th, 2009 11:33 pm (UTC)
They so are!! I just love his voice. And the rest. I am hooked, dammit. ;)

And HA, well, it's THAT. After that promo with both Ian and the guy playing his brother are sucking her neck it was an instinctive reaction. Mind, I surely don't object to any kind of pornography including His Prettiness. *cough* And YAY, it's awesome! SPN is an awesome show, your fiance totally has good taste. I hope you enjoy S5 too. ;) From what I've seen it'll probably be awesome. *is excited*
Lou: porngottalovev on September 7th, 2009 11:48 pm (UTC)
lol! vampire pornography? I love it! I hope it lives up to your expectations, meaning that His Prettiness is very very Pretty. and stuff ;) I'll give it a shot for sure!

gah, to read stuff. it gets overwhelming, but books are so SHINY
the female ghost of tom joad: the vampire thingjanie_tangerine on September 8th, 2009 12:51 pm (UTC)
Books are so shiny indeed! Damn, I have so much stuff to read. And I keep on buying them anyway. I don't have space, dammit.

LOL, yes it is! Come on, after those promo pictures where Ian and the guy playing his brother were licking the girl's neck I just couldn't not. ;) My expectations are just for His Prettiness to be awesome so I'm pretty sure I'll even end up enjoying the thing, lol. I hope for the both of us that it's at least entertaining!
catoasapun: [SPN] Castiel halfsmilecatoasapun on September 8th, 2009 06:04 am (UTC)
Ooh, which of Gaiman's short stories did you buy?

OMG SPN! I'm giddy. :) As for the Vampire Diaries I am hoping, for ian's sake, that it is better than I fear it will be. I mean, I'll watch (for him) but, still...

LOL Youve got a bit of reading to catch up on, eh? XD
the female ghost of tom joad: supernatural castieljanie_tangerine on September 8th, 2009 12:53 pm (UTC)
I bought the collection! I think the title is Fragile Things. Totally can't wait to get around to reading it... when I manage, lol, since yeah, I do have the catch up to do. *sigh*

I am hoping, for ian's sake, that it is better than I fear it will be.

YES. That. I mean, considering all the crap he made me watch in the last two years I think this can't be worse than at least three movies I'm thinking about, but still, I hope it's at least decent. I'll watch it no matter what but if it was half-decent I'd be way more pleased, y'know.. ;)
catoasapuncatoasapun on September 8th, 2009 07:40 pm (UTC)
Fragile Things is wonderful! I absolutely devoured it - I hope you enjoy it! There are several stories which I read over and over because they were so good, but I was most excited about "Monarch of the Glenn." it's the reason I bought it, actually.

considering all the crap he made me watch in the last two years I think this can't be worse than at least three movies I'm thinking about
Oh god, I can imagine. Seriously, the things we watch for them.

That Princess meme is funny. I hope I would get Belle too. Was Esmeralda the girl from Hunchback? She had a cool song and an awesome goat sidekick. I have a week on Disney's influence for my course Children, Toys and Media. I am giving my students and article about five years olds role playing Disney princesses in their classroom. The observations about gender and race were not surprising, but the little girls also took control of the stories and made it their own.
the female ghost of tom joad: tangerinesjanie_tangerine on September 10th, 2009 10:47 pm (UTC)
Yep, Esmeralda was the girl from Hunchback! Her goat sidekick was one of the best things ever, but now that I think about it that's probably the Disney movie I watched more. And of the ones listed Belle is totally the coolest, no doubt about that. And aw, it's such a cool course! And actually cute, if you think about the little girls. Then I guess that with the race issues one could discuss for ages, but still. What an awesome idea.
