pfff, this post is half good and half meh. And the rest is meme.
1. Between yesterday and today, I think I can divide the last twenty-four hours in pro/cons:

Pros: I got recced. While on the bus yesterday because I was going to a friend's birthday dinner I had a moment of enlightenment re the three fic exchanges I signed up for. I decided which prompt I'm doing for the Lost Hohoho one (I was still undecided), I planned what was left of the crossover one and mostly I realized what I need to write for the Dean/Cas one. I didn't do the wordcount I needed for the bigbang #2 but I'm quite into it and I'm pretty sure I'll manage it in a couple of days. And next week I don't have one class at all, which is definitely a pro.

Cons: I didn't do the wordcount I needed (well, that's a con), my phone charger is still dead and I can't and won't spend another twenty-five euros on it since I had bought it two months ago, I went to bed at three AM (not that I complain, the birthday dinner was awesome) and now I kind of want to go to sleep but can't and worst thing, I didn't get the job. :// I'm kind of not quite pleased with it right now because they used a system where they gave you points based on the weighted average between grades and the relation between the credits you have at this point and the credits you should have by now given the year and the number of exams. And it ended up with at least seven people arriving before me who had a lower weighted average but a higher relation and at least six having a higher weighted average and a lower relation. Which means that if someone gave four exams in two years when he should have given ten but got the maximum on them all that person was above me anyway even if I'm at the third year and given way more exams even without having all maximums. And at least five people who got in were running late (I'm not, or not yet anyway) and I didn't get it for five places. Argh, I don't really want to whine about it but I could have really used some money. :// Whatever, if six people decide they don't want it after all then I guess I might still get in, but I really can't see it happening. *sigh* Ah, whatever. I'll see if I can find something else.

2. After I post this I'll go checking out some place doing yoga near here. Maybe I can start again since last year I had too much stuff on my hands and couldn't find the time to go where I did it before. And I'd probably benefit if I took it up again.

3. Memes! One from bold_seer, one from catoasapun.

a) 1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!

1. icon by wentmillerfan: oh, I love it. It's kind of perfect, if you look at it. I mean, apart from me loving the hell out of Misha's face in there, the expression is just so perfect for putting that halo above him. The composition is great and I kind of like it way too much. Mm, Misha.

2. icon by me: ha, okay, I have an insane love for Clint Eastwood. Current and not current. I realize it's not healthy, but anyway, not the point. I just love him in the Leone trilogy and I wanted an icon from it. I did that one for a challenge where they gave you the cap, but it fit because it's from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly which I ♥ and I'm pretty satisfied with it even if I made it some two years ago. The you dig is a quote from the movie which is pretty much epic imo, even if he didn't say that in that scene specifically.

3. icon by dekolette: well, this one will be short. I need (and want, because I love her even if I used to love her more before S5) a Juliet icon (which I also use for Sawyer/Juliet related stuff, mostly because when I needed the space for Misha icons the one I had for the pairing went because while I do like it I'm not invested in it at all) and this one is very pretty. I love the cropping and the coloring and the lightening and her expression and just, it's pretty.

4. icon by lasamy: Mozart is my favorite classical composer by far and I wanted a Mozart icon. Also, I love Amadeus (the movie), despite it being not exactly historically accurate (srsly, poor Salieri, he wasn't that much of a bastard lol) and then lasamy made icons from it and I figured I'd steal one. This was my favorite of the bunch and just, it's pretty. And I can use it also for other stuff.

5. icon by gigglemonster: I don't know if I'm the one person who has more than one Jimmy icon on rotation, but when I found this one I fell in love with it. I mean, look at it. It's so pretty and the lightening is done so well, I love the b/w and the text works perfectly and I need to have it. I ♥ it to little pieces. (Jimmy. ;__; I miss you.)

b) - Reply to this meme by typing "I want in on this shit."
- I will then give you 3-5 words that remind me of you.
- Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

Warning: this is long. And I rambled. And if you like my current PM, I strongly advise to skip the last word.

Good Omens: aw, I love this book. I read it because I got into Neil Gaiman and I figured I'd check it out also because I found it mentioned a lot, but after two pages I was hooked. Mostly because they quoted Springsteen using born to lurk instead of born to run and that was when I was like, THIS IS AWESOME. And it was. I mean, it's an apocalypse which is crack on a stick with two awesome protagonists who are practically a canon pairing and the four horsemen of the Apocalypse going around on motorbikes and Death speaking in capslock, how can not you ♥ it? My favorite character is probably Crowley but just because he was the first appearing. If it had been Aziraphale he'd have been the one, I ♥ them both equally. And the humor is awesome and I can't recommend it enough.

Ian Somerhalder: er. I'm not surprised about this. Okay, so, while my love for Boone does not have everything to do with his looks (otherwise I'd have dropped the character after two episodes) I can't say that after I saw the guy's face for the first time I stared at the promo picture that it was for five minutes. And after I finished S1 of Lost I was like fine, he's really lovely and I think he's a good actor (shut up, he is, he just chooses awful movies), let's find some other stuff. And then I realized that whatever crap movie he did I would watch it anyway because I ♥ him and I think he's a really nice person from what I can see and he's a good actor and he played the fictional character that is totally my #2 fictional crush ever so yeah. And he even got me to watch a show about vampires who also go to high school. See what he makes me do. But I do it anyway. I can't exactly say he's my objectively favorite actor, but he's totally in my top five crushes. Hell yes.

Also, he has the prettiest eyes ever existed. Or something.

George Orwell: well, this fine nice English gentleman wrote my favorite book in the history of ever. I can't say that he's my favorite writer (that one is probably Dumas or Steinbeck), but point is, I read 1984 and it completely changed my way of looking at things/society/politics/the list could go on. Hell, I don't even use abbreviations while sending texts because after I read a chapter in the first part where he explains how the party is going to destroy language it included destroying proper spelling to say one. But it's not just about 1984 because then I read pretty much everything else he did and right now I'm going through a collection of non-prose which I was gifted with and amounts to something like 2500 pages and I just love his writing. His essays are so insightful and I think I probably learned more about Dickens reading an essay of his on the subject than at school. You know when you have intelligence leaking out from pages? More or less that's it.

(Also, if more people in this country read Animal Farm and then heard what is that my PM's lawyer says I have an idea that they'd stop voting for him. And I'm not saying that. The Times said that.)

Bruce Springsteen: so Bruce is my favorite singer. (I usually count BJ as my favorite group and cut it like that. ;) ) And, he's awesomeness incarnated. I'll admit I got into the man because when I was twelve I read that JBJ's favorite record is Born To Run but then I ended up becoming very, very obsessed. He writes the best lyrics that imo will ever be written if you don't count Dylan, I love that he's a totally down to earth person who genuinely loves what he does, he has the nicest back in the history of rock music imo (well yeah that's a perfectly nice reason *cough*), he has the best band that will ever be (ESB ♥) and his concerts are the best concerts that will ever be. And I consider myself very lucky of having seen him three times. I ♥ Bruce so.

Italy: premise: I love my country. I really do. I live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, hell, I live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. I love its literature, I love that we basically created opera (why, yeah, that's a good reason to be glad I know Italian, lol), I love its art (I mean. Arts. Here. YES.), I love its history (at least until the last century...) and if it was for that I'd be really proud of being born here.

Sadly, as things are, if someone told me I had a chance to move to Spain or France or whatever, I'd pack right this moment. What I think about my current PM (even if I didn't bitch about him in a while, but it's because I'd end up overstepping the limit for a LJ post) is no mystery, and it would translate in every possible bad thing under the sun. I mean, the latest news is that he's planning to reform the whole law system so that 99% of the penal trials going on INCLUDING HIS would get canceled. Including mafia trials. And about that, I don't want to talk about the four mafias or the level of corruption around here, not to mention tax evasion, bureaucracy which probably worked smoother when Napoleon introduced it. The policy regarding immigrates is imo not worthy of a civil country, gay rights are into the pure utopia realm, the school system is becoming a mess and no one in the government does anything about serious matters (apart from solving my PM's problems, of course). And job prospects look grim. At this point the only thing that works is the health care, if they don't start cutting money from there too. So I'd say, if you want to come visit, come visit and have a great time. If you want to move to another country, wait another twenty years at least. And if I didn't love my country I wouldn't be so disillusioned with it. I really do. I just don't like what people are doing with it.

4. And then today I came home and... new Misha promo pic from S5. Can that man be any more... *dies* I just think that it's kind of not exactly representative because I've never seen Cas wearing those clothes, not that I'd mind if he did wear them. Not that I care. Aw, Misha, thanks for sort of making my days nicer by being so lovely yourself.

5. Christmas cards post is here, if anyone else would like one? ;)

6. Okay, I think I'm pretty much done also because I rambled more than I had thought I would. O_o I'll be out checking out that yoga thing and then I'll get back to writing. And also editing the other bigbang. If I manage to read something at the gym then I can put all of that in the pros. *waves*

Hit me with em icons!

And I want in on this shit!

also, I am very sorry about the job *hugs*

and to cheer you up... I'm about halfway done with the Cas vector! He has a head (bald atm though) eyes, a coat (err, no other clothes though *snicker*) and hands. I need to give him moar clothes, some hair and wings. Should he have a halo? I always make halos on my little doodle angels... but it's Cas, he doesn't really feel like the halo type angel XD
the female ghost of tom joad: fireflyjanie_tangerine on November 18th, 2009 09:27 pm (UTC)

Thank you! <3333

I'm sorry you didn't get the job! What a weird system for selecting. Here's hoping the other seven drop out.

Yay for Mozart! I love that one of Julit. It is beautiful and has her don't fuck with me face.

Congrats on the rec and the story ideas!
the female ghost of tom joad: lost julietjanie_tangerine on November 18th, 2009 09:22 pm (UTC)
Thank you! <3 Yeah, that system is weird stuff. I mean, go either by grades or by relation, right? Whaatever. I'll see if I can find something else, otherwise peace.

Mozart, yay indeed! That Juliet icon is awesome. I especially like the don't fuck with me face. ;)

And thanks!! <33333

Sorry about the job.

The Eastwood icon is just stunning! He looks great, still does. And I figured you weren’t that into (Sawyer/)Juliet. The Amadeus one cracks me up! Love them all.

Yeah, I saw that thing about Berlusconi in the paper - aaargh. Maybe I don’t have the right to react that strongly to the stunts he pulls, as I’m not Italian, but I just think he’s loathsome.

And if I didn't love my country I wouldn't be so disillusioned with it.

And, as sad as it seems, it means you really do love your country, not some idealised version of it. But it is a beautiful country; been there a couple of times.

Do I want in on that shit? I should probably be doing my homework... Yes, I want in on this shit!

Who’s your fictional crush number one?
the female ghost of tom joad: supernatural dean/cas bffs <3janie_tangerine on November 18th, 2009 09:14 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I'll see if I can find something else. Bummer, but whatever. :/

Aw, thanks! And well, I think I liked Sawyer/Juliet better when it wasn't canon, but then again I didn't like how they handled half of the characters in S5 so... but I do like the pairing when it's well done.

I don’t have the right to react that strongly to the stunts he pulls, as I’m not Italian, but I just think he’s loathsome.

You have EVERY right to! That man needs to be loathed by everyone, and if not Italians it doesn't matter. Jesus, I can't stand his face anymore and if he lasts through his term I still have three years of him. Someone please just make him disappear? And thanks, that's pretty much it. I love Italy. I just don't like what it's becoming, but I really do.

Oh, and my fictional crush #1 is Eddie Dean from Stephen King's Dark Tower series. Totally my ideal man incarnated, apart from the heroin addiction. ;)

Aaaand I'm giving you... Twin Peaks, Castiel, Baltar/Gaeta, Richard Alpert, Leonard Cohen.

on the other hand, I am really sorry you didn't get the job, that sucks.

hee, you have great icons. I love that one of Jimmy too! and why am I not surprised either about someone choosing Ian, huh? ;)

been a while since I did a meme, but I don't have time for many. so hit me with one or the other, if you want!

It so is. And it was also some pretty old stuff so now I'm all like 'yayyy someone remembers it!!' ;)

Thanks so much <3333 I'll just try to see if I can apply for something else. Or hope that someone drops out. ://

And thank you! That Jimmy icon is just beautiful. And HA. I wasn't too surprised either. ;)

Ooookay icons then!

older stuff is even better, I agree! spnroundtable recced my Halloween fic from last year for the Halloween rec list and it made me both elated that omg, someone likes this enough to find it after a year and at the same time guilty that I didn't even try to write one this year (while I did the 2 years previous). oh well!

HA! well those are in my favorites, for sure! great selection! will do soon! =D
Aurilly: booneaurilly on November 18th, 2009 11:36 pm (UTC)
It's so interesting to see what an Italian thinks about the stuff that's going on. I read about it, but it's nuts! You think the same things I have gleaned from the papers. It's a tragic shame. Italy is so ridiculously beautiful, but it does sound like a pain to live in. France was a pain to live in, but even that seemed easier than Italy. :( But I still envy you so so so so much. I would kill to live in Europe. At least you have universal healthcare. It's a big deal. :/

I think the guy in that new show White Collar has the same kind of attractiveness that Ian does. Same coloring and eye contrast, etc. I haven't watched it, but that's what it seems like from the pictures.

I'd like to do the icon meme. But I might do really mini answers in a comment, because I feel like I just did a massive meme post today and don't want to wear out my welcome. :)
the female ghost of tom joad: lost boone ---> XQ________janie_tangerine on November 19th, 2009 03:09 pm (UTC)
Seriously, if there's a thing that makes me want to cry is that foreign people get how fucked up is stuff here and people here don't. I mean, they're like, 'well, of course he'd want not to be processed, he needs to do his PM job' and I'm like 'BUT IF HE WAS ON TRIAL HE SHOULDN'T EVEN BE WHERE HE IS', but ha. People still vote him. Me, I sure as hell don't. And yeah, tragic shame is what I'd say. And well, I've been to France a lot of times and stayed there for a month in order to study and stuff once, and I'd kill to go live there. It isn't exactly great either but at least people pay taxes and you don't have to deal with Mr. B. *headdesk* Though you're totally right about the universal healthcare. That I would not change with anything. ://

I kind of like the guy! I was planning to check White Collar soon, I'll probably do it one of these days.

And of course, here you get the icons!

Aurilly: lazy adamaurilly on November 19th, 2009 04:35 pm (UTC)
1. Boone! I used to have a different Boone icon, from inside Locke's tent of muteness, but this one is better lit and the expression is ambiguous enough to convey anything you want it to. So pretty!
2. Is this from Lost? I don't even know, to be honest. But of all the ones I found (I spent a long time looking), this was the one he looked the cutest in, and is how I think of both Jacob and Lucifer, so it's multi-purpose!
3. Because this icon captures exactly how I feel about Ben. Love the actor, but I just can't take Ben's assholery... even when there's no reason! He's a jerk just because!
4. Indiana Jones was my second love (after Marty McFly), and Harrison Ford was my one true love from the ages of 10--17 when Ewan stole my heart. He's such a man, but it's rare to find a truly adorable, smiley, high-quality pic of him---I picked it for the same reasons as the Marksha one, actually.
5. Best icon ever, right? I didn't ship it, but loved to watch Petrellicest. It never failed to bring a smile to my face, and this was one of their best moments. So often, you can't get all the players in an awesome moment in the same screencap, so the fact that this is out there is a miracle. And the yellow makes it super cheerful.
the female ghost of tom joad: heroes nathan SUBTEXT *guh*janie_tangerine on November 20th, 2009 03:33 pm (UTC)
Mm, that Boone icon is just so pretty. I totally agree. Mm, HIS FACE. *smishes*

Uh, I think it is. When he was in the car maybe? Dunno but it's a total great face and it works for both indeed.

LOL I FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME WAY ABOUT BEN. Michael Emerson is GREAT, but the second he stopped being Henry Gale he started grating on my nerves. I hate him, usually. Apart from when he cracks me up, but that's twice in a season.

INDIANA. <33333333

That icon is AWESOME. I used to ship Nathan/Peter and I still shipped it when I quit the show, but I was basically watching for a character and a half and a pairing. And it wasn't enough really. But the whole Petrellicest thing was awesome with its awkwardness, lol.

Thank you <33 and ha, see. Italy has a motto: if something is simple, make it complicated. If it's complicated, make it MORE complicated. That's pretty much it. ;) But yeah, I think it's kind of a crazy system, but whatever. :/

*sigh* See, you're an American and you know he is. Half of the people here still didn't apparently get it. *headdesk* Thanks, I hope it happens sooner than later. His face hurts my eyes at this point. ;)

And awww, thanks and right back at you!! Orwell is awesome. As Cohen. ;)

Good luck with all that writing! YOU CAN DO IT, BB! Also, congratulations on being recced! I saw that and squeed with glee for you; it was deserved, that story was awesome. <333

Re: your list of cons - *hugs*

I do too many memes, but I'd love in on that one. LOL

Everything you said about GO? Yeah, word. Only, I think I said Aziraphale was my favorite - but, you get its all interchangeable. They come as a package anyway.

And he even got me to watch a show about vampires who also go to high school. See what he makes me do
LOLOLOLOL! The things we do for love, I tell you. He's totes worth it though, the eyes alone, really...

I really do. I just don't like what people are doing with it.
I believe it. If you didn't care about your country so much, you wouldn't be so upset about all the goings on. You wouldn't care.
the female ghost of tom joad: ILUjanie_tangerine on November 20th, 2009 03:57 pm (UTC)
Ha, I hope I manage. Thankfully I have two exchanges drafted so I just need to finish the huge one and the D/C one and tie the other two and..

Right, I need to write instead of procrastinating.

icons for you then!

And yay re GO! ;) If Aziraphale had been the one showing first I'd have gone for him too. I ♥ them both, aww. And yeah, total package those two.

EEEH. WE DO THINGS FOR LOVE INDEED. The scepter of Moses was seriously an act of love, in comparison the vamp porn is high class. ;) THE EYES, MM.

<333 And thanks. Yeah, I unfortunately care about it enough to be upset. I don't want to stop caring either, but it just makes me mad. <3

Yay for figuring you exchange fics out! Go you! I don't think I will have time to start my HoHoHo fic soon, but at least I know which prompt I want to take. And I'm still fighting with the Crossover thingy (I don't want to disappoint and I put way too much pressure on myself and ... all I have is a rough outline which I don't really understand and about 500/600 words of notes/random sentences. Ugh. Still enough time, right? ;))

I'm sorry about the job, sweetie! That sounds like a really weird system. O.o I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you'll find something else.

I'd like to do the icon meme, too. Hit me, please?

I love that Juliet icon (no surprise, I know ;)). So, so, so pretty and shiny and oooh, I love her (and yes, I loved her more before S5, too :/). Oh, and btw, I share your love for Mozart. ;) I will always, always, always be a Beethoven girl but I do adore Mozart, too. God! I've never seen this movie, though. Maybe I should check it out. ;)

And urgh for Berlusconi, seriously. Just ... Urgh.

Icons for you!

And don't worry about the late! ;)

I'll probably finish the HoHoHo first because it's shorter and I practically have it all planned, then get on the crossover one and then the one I need to do for a SPN pairing which will probably be the one killing my brains, which is why I'm leaving it for last. And don't put too much pressure on yourself, just go with it and I'm sure it'll be awesome. And yeah, enough time indeed. ;)

Thank you! Yeah. That system sucks ass, also because imo you should base it on ONE thing, not two, but whatever. :// That's Italy for you, if something is complicated it becomes moar complicated.

That icon is lovely. And I love her face in it. ;) AND YAY MOZART!! Well, I'm the reverse, in the sense that I'm a Mozart girl but I adore Beethoven to pieces too so... ;) And Amadeus is a great movie. If you gliss on poor Salieri being the evil mastermind that he wasn't, it's actually pretty accurate and well, damn, it's a movie about Mozart. I don't complain. ;)

He's just.. I hate-his-face. And I can't possibly take another three years with him governing, unless he fucks things up so bad that he has to resign. But he'll resign the day he dies, sadly. ://
