Lost 6x04 'The Substitute'
Weeeell, this > last week.

Team CTRL+ALT+CANC

1. You know why I decided I like these resets? Because I can forget that f!Locke is wrecking havoc on the island. ARGH, S1!LOCKE, I HAD MISSED YOU SO MUCH. ;__; ah, how I loved thee back then. And how thee broke my heart when you fell of that chair.

2. HELEN! LOCKE/HELEN IS HAPPENING! AND THEY'RE ACTUALLY HAPPY AND MARRYING!! <333 though uh, from how they talked about Locke's dad I need to assume that in the Alt he wasn't the one pushing Locke from the window?

3. Randy is a douche. Nothing said.

4. HURLEY!! <3 I love that he's awesome also in the alt. And I liked that they remembered that he owned the box company.

5. ROSE, YOU MAKE ME CRY. ;____;

6. Locke, Locke, you should've called Jack. But I loved how that scene finished. And I loved the miracles line.

7. Locke's substituting job: I have just one word and that word is LOL. Apart from the gym bit which, well, ha, IT INCLUDED THE BEST LOL MOMENT OF THE EPISODE AKA TEACHER BEN RANTING ABOUT COFFEE. I WAS LIKE OMGWTF BUT I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD SERIOUSLY. Just, lol.

8. YAY BOONE IN THE RECAP!

9. So Locke didn't go on the walkabout. I had a doubt when they said he didn't go to the conference even if I was sure he was lying with Boone on the plane, but.. still. ;__________;

10. In conclusion, this Alt >>> last week's Alt, even if I'm not sure it > the premiere's.

Duh. IT HAD BOONE.

Team weirdest damn funeral I've ever been

11. I don't like how misused Frank is, but at least when he talks he has the best lines. Also, DUUUUH HOT. When he was shoveling I had a braincircuit from the hotness factor. Mm. Yummy.

12. I loved that Sun proposed burying Locke. At least someone...

13. Ilana is still completely useless and I still don't see the point. Where the fuck is Desmond anyway?

14. Oh, Ben. You lying liar. Even though.. surprise! I ACTUALLY LIKED BEN THIS EP. What's wrong with me. But for once he had the lolsome snarky lines and he just lied once. Also, 'I'm sorry I killed you' at the end of the speech = LOL FOREVER. I agree with Frank.

15. Still needs more Frank and more Sun.

Especially more Frank. I REITERATE.

Team RAW POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

16. Sawyer being drunk and listening to Iggy Pop = win of the wins. Actually as hopelessfangirl noticed, LOL at the parallel between him and Jack being drunk and listening to Nirvana. I need to find a suited nickname. IggyPop!Sawyer doesn't really work.

17. While I appreciate that he's still smart, I don't like that he's trusting f!Locke. It really doesn't mean anything good imo. :(

18. Most touching bit: the Mice And Men one. :((((((((((( Sawyer/Steinbeck = OTP y/y?

19. RICHARD!!!!! <333 aw, he's adorable. And missing Jacob like crazy imo. Also, f!Locke totally wants to hit that. Also WHEN HE WAS TRYING TO CALL SAWYER AND HE RAN being scared shitless? Duh. That's not typical Richard, he's always so calm and collected. Mm. He probably is the only one who gets how exactly fucked they are.

Now I want to write comfort ghost sex where he meets Jacob in the jungle. JFC, I can't, I have other stuff to do and I have to study, arrrgh.

20. Sawyer and the blue shirt = I like it, BUT WHERE THE FUCK IS DESMOND? Thanks. :/

21. So, the whole numbers thing was freaky. Am I wrong or some were connected to the seats on the plane? Like, Jack is number 23 and his seat was 23b? (Yes, I know Jack's seat. Shut up.) And so it means that all the touched people are candidates to be Jacob's true vessel? (Sorry about that.) And in that case why isn't Kate there?

21b. I actually like aurilly's theory for which Kate will end up being the new Jacob exactly because she wasn't mentioned. That'd be beyond cool imo.

21c. Am I wrong or in the flashback they showed Jacob touching Jin even if I'm sure that in the finale he touched them both? Mm. Interesting.

21d. The whole free will/manipulated actions thing made me lol, but I'll explain the next section.

22. Just a couple of things about f!Locke. First, if he used to be a man then I want to know how he ever could become a SMOKE MONSTER of anything. Therefore, I'm thinking he's lying. Second, how the hell is he thinking to go away. Turning a wheel? Also, I guess that he wants to flee now because he can while Jacob is dead and no one replaces him. Third: he told Ben he wanted to go home, but WHERE THE FUCK WOULD THAT BE? I doubt he has a nice house in the countryside where he and Sawyer could play the odd couple. Therefore, I think that at least half of what he said is a pack of lies and that Sawyer is being very careless in following him.

Tho... uh. Wait a second. Isn't this a bit like team Jack/Ben in the beginning of S5 when they wanted to go back and Ben goes recruiting Nirvana!Jack? Mm. Look how well it went.

In conclusion: I'm very confused and very WTF, but at least it was the good kind of wtf and it moved the story along.

Team Damon Lindelof/Eric Kripke/Carlton Cuse: they are doing it on purpose

Okay, skip this if you don't watch SPN or don't want to be spoiled.

23. Seriously. This show is such a huge crossover. Moments of total lol.

a) The Smokey perspective which seemed a hellhound perspective.
b) The whole 'your actions have been influenced since you were very young and there's no free will' thing of f!Locke, which therefore means that Jacob is Michael and f!Locke is Lucifer. LOL. Seriously, at this point if it turns out that they're angels I won't bat an eyelid. Also, it'd be LOL if f!Locke was the devil or something because when Mark Pellegrino plays Lucifer on the other side... okay, I'll stop this. I'm positively dying of laughter.
c) Thee whole 'you and those other people exist just as possible replacements for Jacob', aka you're all candidates for who is the real true vessel. *snort*

Damn, my crossover ideas have started getting cracky as hell. Though seriously, really. Give Misha a cameo and that's settled. Or Jim Beaver maybe? Duh. Damn, this whole crossoverish thing is precluding my capacities of taking stuff half-seriously.

In conclusion. NEEDS MORE FRANK AND MORE ZOMBIES. As usual.

No, wait. Last in conclusion: WHERE IS VINCENT? He has been missing since the finale and in the alt too. Yes, yes, I still think that Vincent has all the answers.

Duh. That was probably nonsensical but I tried.

THIS.

I don't think Sawyer trusts Flocke. I think he's curious and along for the ride, but I don't think the fact that the always cool and composed Richard crapped his pants right in front of him escaped someone as smart as Sawyer. I think that got through to him. He must know that this dude is creepy and that the bit about his options was definitely a lie. But I like where this is gong, where it seems like the island is a prison, Jacob was the jailer, and the real purpose of this show is that it's about containing something that cannot be allowed back into the real world.

FRANK FTW. I love the uber Frank love in fandom. There isn't anyone who doesn't like Frank and I love it.

I don't want to think it either but... argh. I didn't like the ending. I'm sure he's still taking the whole Richard deal into consideration but I just don't like Sawyer near Locke, period. He tends to do stupid things, and considering that this isn't even Locke... arrrgh. Dunno. But I'm sort of liking the whole thing too, even if I wish they gave fLocke a name, lol.
elliotsmelliot: Jacob Blue Shirtelliotsmelliot on February 17th, 2010 02:11 pm (UTC)
Hee! I also thought at first that was Nirvana!Jack. They even had the same tank top.

3. Ilana is still completely useless and I still don't see the point. Where the fuck is Desmond anyway?

I saw HIC's name in credits and expected him to pop out in Alt! Locke's period. But no. Illana is one of the reasons Sun and Frank only get one line per episode. Ugh.

Sawyer and the blue shirt = I like it, BUT WHERE THE FUCK IS DESMOND? Thanks. :/

I know! You could write a blue shirt sequel where Sawyer steals his shirt back. It looked very nice on Sawyer, just like last season blue looked good on Richard. Bless the costume designer.

All in all this was a tolerable episode for me - on the run!Richard, Frank saying what the audience was thinking, no pirate!Others, no Jack (sorry he is really grating on my nerves), no triangle, and happily ever after Locke.
the female ghost of tom joad: lost des blue shirtjanie_tangerine on February 17th, 2010 10:16 pm (UTC)
You're so right about the tank top!! Damn, as soon as I'm done with exams this round I'm so iconing them next to each other.

Yeah, I saw that too. Bad! Maybe he's still a regular after all and that's why he's listed? Because damn, Ilana screen time until now is wasted screen time imo. As you said, they could give her lines to Sun and Frank. Argh.

LOL, actually I could! *thinks about it* God, all the fic I'll write next weekend. This season is giving out some ideas at least.

This was probably the best of the bunch until now, except for part I of the premiere for me but I mean, there was Boone, that becomes by default the best episode of the season for me unless he appears again. I was starved, dammit. Frank being the audience's mouthpiece is awesome. He should have a centric. Like, yesterday. And ha, don't say sorry, once in a while I can get that a break from Jack can help. ;) I didn't miss the Other Raiders at all tbh. And no triangle = INDEED a relief.

I think that as long as Ben stands on the side and makes his snarky remarks I can be okay with him. As soon as he starts being all EVIL MASTERMIND I stop liking him, lol. AND OF COURSE BASKING IN THE FRANK/SUN AWESOMENESS DOES HIM GOOD.

I don't want to be sure either but that ending? Seemed like he was half-sold to me. Dnw. All the times Sawyer followed Locke it always ended like utter crap. :/ Though yeah, I don't think he would dismiss Richard being scared out of his mind like that either.

Richard is everything but clueless imo. The bare fact that he's scared shitless is a proof that he absolutely knows. Awww, poor baby. Maybe he doesn't know because Jacob didn't tell him but still. I'm sure that during they lovely time together they did share info. Anyway I'm more inclined to trust Jacob rather than fLocke, so...

I'LL TRY, I SWEAR! :D

Yeah, that doesn't hold much. Still, I tried. ;)

I MISS VINCENT TOO, WHERE IS HE? Bring him out, people! We want him back! Actually, where the fuck did the bomb send him? O_o

They NEED to have that, otherwise they'd SO mess that up. XDD

Damn about those two, ouch. :/ The Kate theory is intriguing! Surely it'd be a completely unexpected solution...
Lou: Lost - Bengottalovev on February 17th, 2010 04:29 pm (UTC)
I love the "Ctrl+alt+canc" name! lol!

I was honestly moved by the Locke/Helen (especially since he was honest in the end) and that this Locke had it better, even with everything. Although I'm pretty sure he'd ditch it all if he was offered to go on the island and be all mystical white hunter

Rose, omg, so made of awesome. I am not pleased that she's that sick.

*chants for more Frank too*

I don't think Sawyer trusts Fake!locke as far as he can throw him. but I also think that Sawyer thinks he has nothing to lose, anyway. he's not suicidal, but he'd do anything to get off the Island.

Poor Richard, I was all "awww" at him and he does seem to miss his Jacob *pets*
the female ghost of tom joad: lost -> generaljanie_tangerine on February 17th, 2010 10:01 pm (UTC)
Buaha I can't resist it. ;)

It really honestly moved me too. It was such heartwarming to see, even if considering that it's Lost I fear for them...

ROSE IS ALWAYS MADE OF AWESOME. SHE NEEDS TO SURVIVE. :(

LOL, I think that the only thing everyone agrees on is that it needs more Frank and more Miles.

I don't want to think it either but the way he was talking at the end... Idk but I just don't like it. :(

Yeaaaah, poor baby. Damn, I'll see if I can whip him some ghost sexing. ;)

IggyPop!Sawyer

Stooges!Sawyer? RawPower!Sawyer? Detroit!Sawyer?

I actually like aurilly's theory for which Kate will end up being the new Jacob exactly because she wasn't mentioned. That'd be beyond cool imo.

Interesting. She was in the "Judas" position in the Lost Supper tableau, yes?
the female ghost of tom joad: musicjanie_tangerine on February 17th, 2010 10:03 pm (UTC)
I vote for Stooges!Sawyer! It also has the same number of letters as Nirvana so it matches perfectly. ;)

She was in that position or it was Sayid. They were pretty close and more or less in the same position of Judas as the painting so it's one of them. Intriguing indeed.
inthekeyofd: Sawyer-dimples-mediocrechickinthekeyofd on February 17th, 2010 06:48 pm (UTC)
I'm still convinced it's going to be Jack vs. Sawyer, but it could also happen this way..

Sawyer vs. Kate, Jack being the hand that plays them all.

I loved love loved that blue shirt..LOVED IT, almost as much as Sawyer getting his smart on talking about Mice and Men, Steinbeck is in my top 3 favorite all time authors.
the female ghost of tom joad: lost sawyer *g*janie_tangerine on February 17th, 2010 10:04 pm (UTC)
.... I like the whole shebang the way you said it. ;)

Seems like if there isn't Desmond around someone will have to wear a blue shirt. Not that I complain. AND THAT ABOUT STEINBECK. My favorite is probably Grapes Of Wrath but Mice And Men is... augh. LOVE IT.
valhalla37valhalla37 on February 18th, 2010 03:10 am (UTC)
A big ole WOOOOORD to everything, especially needing more Frank and Sun. At least they're kicking around and burying Locke and all, but I would love for them to be more integral to pushing the story forward instead. And where the hell is Desmond? The blue shirt made me so nostalgic, lol.

And Locke happy! Even if the alt timelines means nothing in the end, that was so lovely, especially with Hurley and Rose.
the female ghost of tom joad: lost hippie winsjanie_tangerine on February 18th, 2010 09:56 am (UTC)
MORE FRANK AND SUN IS DEEMED NECESSARY. FRANK ESPECIALLY, but that's me being biased. And yeah, at least they're doing that. Frank looks hot with dirt on his shirt. ;) ;)

And yeah, DESMOND, WHERE ART THOU? *sigh* I miss when it was everyone in the same place.

Happy Locke was so great! :D And yeah, indeed. Hurley was also aweeesome. <3

IT INCLUDED THE BEST LOL MOMENT OF THE EPISODE AKA TEACHER BEN RANTING ABOUT COFFEE. I WAS LIKE OMGWTF BUT I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD SERIOUSLY. Just, lol.

TEACHER!BEN = XD. ESPECIALLY, FOR SOME REASON, BECAUSE IT'S HISTORY - EUROPEAN HISTORY. I CAN SO SEE HIM TALKING ABOUT THE FRENCH REVOLUTION OR WHATEVER. HOW HEADS WERE ROLLING!!!

That's not typical Richard, he's always so calm and collected. Mm. He probably is the only one who gets how exactly fucked they are.

That was so unnerving, but I'm not complaining, because he looked fine even when beaten up. (Especially when beaten up?)

BUT WHERE THE FUCK IS DESMOND? Thanks. :/

:/

the female ghost of tom joad: lost richardjanie_tangerine on February 20th, 2010 11:06 pm (UTC)
Sorry for replying so late. Studying sucks. :/

TEACHER BEN WAS SO LOL. AND YOU'RE SO RIGHT ABOUT THE EUROPEAN HISTORY. OH MY YOU IMAGINE HIM TALKING ABOUT LIKE IDK ANY OF THE GENOCIDES? OH GOD THAT'D MAKE ME FEEL BAD FOR THINKING IT'D BE HILARIOUS BUT... LOLOLOL FOREVER.

Yeah, he looked FINE indeed. Mmmmmm.

Allie: Bzuhalliecat8 on February 18th, 2010 05:23 pm (UTC)
I think it's Frank's understated lines that make him the "everyman" character he is -- the one who speaks for US (when Hurley isn't coming right out and doing it blatantly).

It really doesn't mean anything good imo. :(

It either means he wants to know what Flocke is up to and is brave enough to follow him and find out, or he's too drunk to know what he's doing. I'm torn.

Am I wrong or some were connected to the seats on the plane?

Somebody might've already mentioned this (I haven't read comments yet), but I thought that too until I noticed that Sawyer is 15 and Sayid is 16, and they weren't sitting that close to each other.

First, if he used to be a man then I want to know how he ever could become a SMOKE MONSTER of anything.

Guessing my ass off here, but maybe Jacob and Esau were the original inhabitants of the island (the Biblical Jacob and Esau worked out their differences and settled their land battles amicably, I remember), but when Esau died the island's magic couldn't let there be an imbalance of light (Jacob, we assume) and dark (Esau) so they made his body a shape shifter, and lots of times he LIKES being a Smoke Monster? Or they (the omnipotent "THEY") just cut to the chase and made him a Smoke Monster who just happens to know how to shape shift. What, I dunno.

Therefore, I'm thinking he's lying. Second, how the hell is he thinking to go away.

He's lying, of course. ;)

WHERE IS VINCENT?

He's happily living out his retirement with Rose and Bernard. OR HE"S A ZOMBIE. Take your pick. :D
the female ghost of tom joad: porn!janie_tangerine on February 20th, 2010 11:05 pm (UTC)
Sorry for answering so late, I had some crappy studying three days =_=

I like Frank as our mouthpiece. Maybe if he is they'll keep him around, lol.

I have the same doubt. I hope it's number one and not two. :/

Yeah, Jack is the only one that matched I think. Or maybe him and a few others. Probably it's a coincidence even if I don't believe in coincidences anymore.

Word on the biblical Jacob & Esau (I know because I ended up there for a Jacob fic I had to write ages ago and I made myself a culture on the subject) which means that ours aren't the same thing. Your theory is good! I can't exactly buy that they were only human yet, because otherwise if they became gods (?) then the Island is like the eye of God as someone at university was saying once while discussing S4? XD Duh, it's too complicated.

Indeed he's lying. ;)

I like that theory. GO VINCENT!!!!
