late birthdays. In some case, very late. and maybe something else.
1. So, in my 'OMG I NEED TO FINISH THE GODDAMN THESIS' frenzy which won't sadly be over until Friday (but at least I'm far enough), I totally neglected a bunch of birthdays. So, happy birthday (for today) to eponine119 and happy late birthday (in some cases extremely late) to crickets, zoemathemata, briteskies and uuuh, everyone else who had their birthday in November. <3 I hope you all have had/are having in one case a great time and uh, happy late birthday again. <333

2. Okay so uh I have an exchange fic due in three days and I haven't started it. Eee. Well, tomorrow I'm off work so if I can work on the thesis in the morning/early afternoon I'll see to do it in the evening or something. Why am I always so last minute? I hope it teaches me regarding the master's degree, because if I end up like this in the next two years... okay, no. *doesn't think about it* why is procrastination so tempting? (Reading: why did I have to find out that there exists a free game on stephenking.com which is Dark Tower inspired? Sadly it ended too soon once I figured it out, but it made me lose enough time. Ugh, procrastination.)

3. Switching topic happily and without care for subject.. my PM's comment on students protesting because two weeks before the confidence vote they're approving the most hideously stupid reform that has ever been conceived: 'if you're real students, you'd be home on books' (and not worrying about the fact that you're destroying public university). It made me wish I was out marching too, but I can't because I'm apparently a real student and I need to get my degree, ugh. I feel so bad.

4. Meme stolen from... a bunch of flisters, because I wrote seven pages today and have time to kill, and because my brain doesn't feel up for more:

Don't take too long to think about it. Fifteen fictional characters (television, films, plays, books) who've influenced you and that will always stick with you. List the first fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes.

random book/movie/tv people, I guess. With maybe some comics thrown in.

1. Eddie Dean (Dark Tower series) -> I'm sure everyone is surprised by this one.
2. Boone Carlyle (Lost)
3. Roland Deschain (Dark Tower series)
4. Castiel (SPN)
5. Faramir (Lord of the Rings)
6. Larry Underwood (The Stand)
7. Winston Smith (1984)
8. Jimmy (Oryx and Crake)
9. Beatrix (Kill Bill)
10. Sam Clay (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay)
11. David Fisher (Six Feet Under)
12. Trixie (Deadwood)
13. Rick (Casablanca)
14. Roy (Blade Runner)
15. Rorschach (Watchmen)

... why is 13/15 of this list men...? It makes me feel bad. At least the women are awesome..?

5. Okay, last point because this entry wasn't born to be full of deep meaning. Hi to the new people who friended me lately! :) Do you want me to add you back? Please talk to me? I don't bite. ;)

I'm totally more productive when I do things last minute, yeah. I wish it wasn't the case though, especially because I'm really this close to the deadline. x__x

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

I love the last minute, especially for fic writing! It's so terrible but so true.
the female ghost of tom joad: tangerinesjanie_tangerine on December 1st, 2010 09:28 am (UTC)
You're welcome!

And yeah. Ugh. It's very last minute. But since I'd like to, you know, have my supervisor reading my thesis before handing it in, in this moment it's very bad that I do procrastination like nobody's business. ;)

2. procrastination is evil. more evil than Lucifer *nods*

3. go those students for protesting. ti's the only way to show how strongly you feel about everything but don't feel too cut up about not being there hun - you DO need to focus on that thesis! <3

2. It is. I need to shake it off me. Except that it's so hard. :((

3. Yeah, they should and I hope they keep on doing it enough time that I can join in after I'm done. But I really wanted to be there, if only because two years ago I hadn't missed one demonstration. <3

2. so so hard! share some tips if you manage to succeed! ;)

You're welcome, just sorry for the lateness. XD

Jimmy is awesome. I was in love with him from page two or something. I love him to pieces and I loved that book to pieces and it's all-around excellent and awesome and I just love it. ;) And Jimmy, lol. I rarely wanted to hug someone so bad. XD
elliotsmelliot: SFUelliotsmelliot on December 1st, 2010 03:41 am (UTC)
It's cool that Jimmy made the list!

Did you finish SFU yet?

Good luck with your thesis!
the female ghost of tom joad: six feet underjanie_tangerine on December 1st, 2010 09:37 am (UTC)
I wish I had finished SFU. Since my uncle was like 'okay I didn't get you S4 for Christmas last year BUT I WILL' I bought S5 and I'm patiently waiting for him to get me the 4th. But since I have 5, I'll probably do a marathon at Christmas, since I'll have the half of my degree and nothing to do.

Jimmy is amazing! :D It was one of the cases when I get to page five and I decide it's literature love. ;)

Thank you! Let's hope I finish it in two days.

(PS: also, are things okay? I had meant to e-mail you after that post you made last day but I had some three way-too-busy days and I failed on that front.)

I feel your pain, I'm practically a professional procrastinator at this point. I always feel like I write better when I freaking out about a deadline though. ;)

Rick! Trixie! Sam Clay! Boone! Awesome choices. :D

Professional procrastination is nice. It should be a job. WHY CAN'T I BE PAID FOR IT? :(( and for fic it's the same for me, but for this I'd have just rather have NOT procrastinated. ;)

Ee, thank you! And HA, another Kavalier & Clay person? (Okay, I'm way more for Clay than for Kavalier, but you know. XD) That book is so good. And Sam made me go ;_____________; all the time. <33333 And I'm also way sure everyone is surprised that Boone is there. ;)

1. Eddie Dean (Dark Tower series)

Er, Janie - is this supposed to be Edward? And I think it's called the Twilight series, actually.

... why is 13/15 of this list men...? It makes me feel bad. At least the women are awesome..?

I'll probably do this and my list will probably look like yours. And yet, I think that says more about television, films, plays and books than it says about us.

You'll do fine with the fic, thesis and graduation, I'm sure!

I was supposed to answer your e-mail, too, but I've been on-and-off sick, and well. I guess I was mostly just going to say that although humour is clearly your strength, you aren't bad at all with more serious fic. I quite liked it! :)
the female ghost of tom joad: ILUjanie_tangerine on December 1st, 2010 06:14 pm (UTC)
... there's only one Edward my heart belongs to. But I assure you, he doesn't sparkle. He tells dead baby jokes instead. I'd rather have that one, thank you. ;) And about my list, I think it says that I like people who didn't get much luck in their lives, oops. Or at least, out of fifteen I think just two or three had a sorta-happy-ending and even if they had they went through a whole lot of bad luck before that. XD Blah, I like angst apparently.

Let's hope! I started the fic and I think I already did the necessary count but now I really need to do the thesis. Ew.

(and don't worry, I've sucked at answering anything lately. And thanks! :D)

OMFG, Stephen King -- re: your fictional characters list. If I ever write one-twentieth as well as him I'll be happy. Also, I'm not at all surprised to see Larry Underwood on your list -- for some reason he's kind of Bruce Springsteen-esque to me, and that clearly makes sense with you. ;P

And Margaret Atwood, woot woot! Three cheers for Canadian authors! ;D

Good luck with the thesis work!

the female ghost of tom joad: dark tower roland/eddie 2.0janie_tangerine on December 5th, 2010 09:50 am (UTC)
LOL, and I was about to put Chris from The Body too but then I thought I had too much King stealing positions in the top ten already. ;) And word. Nn. Why so good, uncle Steve? (Even if at times I'd give you a slap. XD)

I'm so obvious, am I not? But Larry is just... he's made for me to like him XDD

for some reason he's kind of Bruce Springsteen-esque to me, and that clearly makes sense with you. ;P

It so does. ;) Also I have the revised edition of The Stand and in the intro King was like 'if they made a movie I'd so love Bruce to play Larry' which kind of settled it. ;) Sadly now it couldn't happen since Bruce is a bit too old for that, lol, but it'd have been so amazing if it had happened.

Eee, Atwood is amazing! ;)

And thanks! I might finish in a day or so. Let's hope.
