birthdays and memes and beta request and stuff and music blathering
1. First: happy birthday to gottalovev and blue_fjords! May the next year be awesome for the both of you. And may it bring as many squeeing over pretty people, possibly Josh Holloway getting a new show, everyone losing their shirts and kissing and making up on H50, awesome times in Russia and generally amazing things for the former, and may it bring satisfying plot arcs in SPN, Misha sightings, huge cupcake sales and amazing things as well for the latter. ♥ if any of you wants to prompt me with anything or with graphics or whatever I'm here, I'll try to see what I can do. ;)

2. Second. I'm now going to spam you all with memes because I've been studying for too much today and I need a break. First, music meme from joyyjpg and a couple other flisters.

Go to your main music library. Put the bands in alphabetical order - list the first 10 bands from the top:
1. Abigail Washburn

7. Agnes Baltsa
8. Aimee Mann
9. Air
10. Al Green

And from the bottom:
1. ZZ Top

Do the same with albums please - from the top (I'm not including bootleg Springsteen albums starting with the year, or it'd be just that):
1. (Pronounced leh-'nerd 'ski-'nerd') - Lynyrd Skynyrd
2. (What's the story?) Morning Glory - Oasis
3. (You Want To) Make a Memory CDM - Bon Jovi
4. 100.000.000 Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong - Bon Jovi

From the bottom:
1. Zuma - Neil Young and Crazy Horse
2. Zooropa - U2
3. Your Funeral... My Trial - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
4. Young Lust, the Aerosmith Anthology - Aerosmith, surprisingly

8. Year of the Horse - Neil Young and Crazy Horse
9. Yeah So - Slow Club

Tell me the playlists you have right now and what’s in them: (er, if I say that I posted it just click on the fanmix tag because if I have to describe all of them this post will need to be split)
Oh dear, half are fic related and half are fanmix related. Anyway, I have:
- Spanish music (it was some Spanish music that lenina20 posted to her journal ages ago);
- Jack fanmix (it was a Jack Shephard mix which I did post);
- season 1 fanmix (Lost S1 fanmix I posted at my first luau some three years ago? It was for falafel_musings);
- fosfomifira (aka some Chilean music fosfomifira had posted to her LJ years ago as well);
- Boone fanmix (guess what - it was posted, too);
- ain't got no home (all the folk music I used while writing I've Been Everywhere aka my nanowrimo fic where Sawyer played folk music during the Depression - it's mostly Woody Guthrie, then that Guthrie/Leadbelly covers cd with Bruce, U2, Emmylou Harris, Bob Dylan etc that was published in the late eighties and other versions of the Guthrie songs, and there's some Leadbelly and some other blues stuff as well);
- deancastielfm (it was for a D/C ficmix - it was actually my second ever D/C story);
- charlie fanmix (fanmix for Charlie from Lost - that was posted as well);
- dean/cas cheerful mix (D/C mix with happy/upbeat songs that I made for the co-op swap at deancastiel - it's posted);
- cas mix (Castiel-centric that I did for the same challenge - posted);
- SPN APOCALYPSE NOW (it was a mix for The End which I never posted because the covers didn't want to come like I wanted them - it has Led Zeppelin, Steve Earle, Nick Cave, Johnny Cash, Velvet Underground, Bruce Springsteen, Flogging Molly and other very random stuff. I should probably put it out at some point);
- WWII (it was music I listened to while writing that Lost WWII AU for scifibigbang - basically it's six different version of Springsteen's Devil's Arcade which was where I took the title from, and then the ost for The Thin Red Line aka the only one for a WWII movie I had at the moment);
- deancas nick cave (D/C mix with only Nick Cave music - posted);
- deancas radio au (the music I listened to while writing Play It All Night Long. 90% of that ended up in the story as well);
- dcfireplace and DCBJRULES (together because they're the mixes I did for dc_fireplace; the first was a soft rock/country one, the second just had Bon Jovi songs);
- deanmix (Dean centric mix that I did for spnland - but I didn't repost it; it has Pearl Jam, Lucinda Williams, Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen and the usual plethora of people I always use. Warren Zevon included);
- MISHA (the mix I made for Misha, to give him at the first convention I attended - basically it's nine song that have PONY in the title, regardless of the context, and surprisingly including people like Springsteen, Dylan, Beatles, Tom Waits and Free, plus the theme song for Pinky and the Brain since it was intended to be a soundtrack to conquer the world. Yeah, idek);
- sam/cas (Sam/Castiel mix I made for hopelessfangirl last year at spn_rarepairs - it's posted over there);
- balladswtf (American murder ballads - they're all either about Stagger Lee or the Delia in Johnny Cash's Delia's Gone and in Dylan's Delia, plus Josh Ritter's Folk Bloodbath. I was supposed to do a lesson over that to my aunt's high school class but then I didn't for time reasons);
- jimmy GRUUUNGE (Jimmy Novak with all-grunge-songs mix that I posted some time ago);
- deancas S6 (another D/C mix I made for spnland - it fits for the first half of the season and then canon shot it to hell, so idk if I'll ever re-post it).

So, what are you listening to right now?
March of the Beggars, Ennio Morricone.

How many songs do you have by this artist?
185. Yes, I like his soundtracks. Yes, writing a spaghetti western fic put me in the mood for it.

How did you acquire all this music anyways?
Ennio Morricone, I bought some and the rest I downloaded. The rest... well, for 80% of my favorite artist I have everything on cd and then I download it even if I have it. The only things that I only have downloaded/on mp3 are bootlegs, music from artists I want to check out (and I buy it if I like it), stuff from fanmixes and demos/things I can't find in shops. But uhm, last time I counted my records I had more than 800 and it was two years ago, so music industry can suck it up if I decide to download stuff once in a while.

What artist do you have the most songs/albums from?
Bruce Springsteen. It says... uhm. 169 albums and 1826 songs, but it's more than that since some bootlegs have the year instead of the artist (yeah idek) and I still need to sort that out.

Put it on shuffle, and write the first 5 songs that come up:
1. Amazing - Aerosmith
2. I've Just Seea A Face - Jim Sturgess
3. No Irish Need Apply - Pete Seeger
4. Things Goin' On - Lynyrd Skynyrd
5. Washed Away - Joe Purdy

What is your favorite song out of those?
In theory I've Just Seen a Face, but in the Beatles version. I mean, I love the Across the Universe ost but I prefer the originals lol. Probably Amazing? I'm not particularly invested in any of those five even if I like them all.

Favorite artist?:
Of the five above or overall? Of the above, Pete Seeger. Overall, Bruce Springsteen.

Do you like acoustic songs?

Lastly, tell me how many songs you have by each artist listed:
Panic! At the Disco: 1 (it's from the Nightmare Before Christmas 3d ost- it counts right?)
Duran Duran: 1 (WHY DO I HAVE ONE DD SONG. I HATE DURAN DURAN. Maybe it was in a fanmix.)
Marilyn Manson: 1 (lol Nightmare Revisited. Why do I have three different osts for that movie? XD)
Utada Hikaru: 0
Ashlee Simpson: 0
Fall Out Boy: 0
Bright Eyes: 6
Brand New: 0
The Beatles: 546 (oh finally someone I have music from!)
Metallica: 22
Mozart: 338, but I have entire operas on here. I guess it makes the count high. XD
The Rolling Stones: 343
David Bowie: 15
John Mayer: 104
Michael Jackson: 1 (and it's from a fanmix. I have a shitload of Billie Jean covers though.)
Avril Lavigne: 0 (but when I put it in the engine, expecting it, it gave me that Weird Al parody of Complicated. A+, music library.)
AFI: 0
Blink 182: 0
Nsync: 0
Rancid: 0
No Doubt: 0
Eminem: 0
Incubus: 1
Something Corporate: 0
Jack’s Mannequin: 0
Beethoven: 65
Kelly Clarkson: 1
Clay Aiken: 0
A Perfect Circle: 0
The Postal Service: 0
Death Cab for Cutie: 3
Coldplay: 1
Switchfoot: 0
The Killers: 2
The White Stripes: 2
30 Seconds to Mars: 25 (though I haven't listened to them since their second album)
Evanescence: 1
Orgy: 0
Sum 41: 0
HIM: 0
Staind: 1
Korn: 1
Red Hot Chili Peppers: 576
Slipknot: 2
My Chemical Romance: 0
Green Day: 4 (and I had no idea I had three of these four O_o)
Our Lady Peace: 0
The Cure: 2
Modest Mouse: 2
The Smashing Pumpkins: 96

^ if anyone wants some of this uploaded I can totally do it.

2b. Another questions meme, tagged by e0wyn. I translated this from Italian so if the questions sound weird there's a reason.

Tag eight people;
If you were tagged, answer and switch a question if you don't like it

First: whoever wants to do it. xD

Second, here it is.

1. Do you own a favorite plushie?
Uhm, I used to have one but it disappeared when I moved and I was twelve. It was... uhm, Simba from the Lion King I think. I got it for Christmas the year it came out.

2. What does your nickname mean?
LJ (janie_tangerine): janie is from Jon Bon Jovi's Janie Don't Take Your Love To Town (I was twelve, I was about to open my first e-mail address and I wanted a BJ related name, but I wanted it neutral and Janie was the only name of a girl I could find in any song of theirs and I liked it, and it stuck), tangerine is both my favorite fruit and my favorite Led Zeppelin song. Twitter/Tumblr/everywhere else (janiedean): janie for the same reason, dean for Eddie Dean from the Dark Tower series. The fact that half of the people that I like is somehow named Dean isn't relevant - it was for THAT Dean.

3. Which kind of clothing would you always wear?
A skirt and a t-shirt. Or a casual dress. And I kind of would always go barefoot if I could

4. What are you going to do when you finish this meme?
Try to work through another chapter on this book I need to finish before the week-end and possibly finish writing this AU fic from hell that has eaten my brain the last two days.

5. What are you listening to right now?
I went from Morricone to Flogging Molly. Whatever. This one is Man With No Country.

6. Who is the last person you hugged?
I have absolutely no recollection. I guess I haven't hugged anyone lately.

7. Which is the last movie you saw?
Prime, aka what would have been a total waste of time if not for Uma Thurman being gorgeous and wearing pink. Or well, it was cute until a certain point but then it could have been a nice movie and proved certain points and it didn't. And the ending was the worst cheat since.. I don't even know. Waste of time.

8. What's your favorite kind of book to read?
Dystopians. Or well, there aren't many genres I won't read (mostly: if it features vampire and it's a serious thing and Stephen King didn't write it, I'll probably give it a pass. I also don't do YA stuff unless it's recced everywhere and anything concerning the Templars or the Catholic Church will make me fall asleep after ten pages, but for the rest I'm pretty flexible), but I guess I'd go for that if I have to pick one.

9. What's your favorite ice cream taste?

10. Sites that you always check while online?
LJ, gmail, yahoo mail, twitter. Tumblr. And repubblica.it aka my newspaper's website.

11. What never fails to irk you every day?
This country's PM.

12. If you could go anywhere, where would you?
Any place in New Jersey, lol. Or, staying closer, I just want to go back to Paris. Bad.

13. What job did you want to do when you didn't know any better and were under ten years old?
Opera singer. Except that I can't sing. Then I wanted to be a fashion designer and I realized I couldn't draw and it wasn't my thing anyway. Then I decided that I wanted to be a writer, and now I'm studying philosophy. Knowing my luck I'll get a job that isn't related with any of these.

14. Have you ever had a weirdass dream?
I don't remember half of what I dream, but from the ones I remember.. there was one where me and my mom were in Paris and we were going to see Naveen Andrews in some stage thing and he started hitting on my mom (seriously). And once I dreamed that Scott Weiland was giving a press conference about his second solo record at my former junior high (idek), everyone was asking him about him doing drugs while he wanted to talk about the music, and he looked like he was about to cry and so I went there and hugged him and told him I loved his stuff and he was all happy. Idek. And another time I dreamed I was in junior high again and Bon Jovi members came in during science class and explained us how system of internal organs worked. That probably takes the crown.

15. What are you doing this week?
Studying. Writing fic. Also studying. And also facepalming and procrastinating and studying and procrastinating and facepalming and fic writing.

16. What's the last book you read?
Novel-speaking, Vonnegut's Mother Night. Everything else speaking, a book about presocratic philosophers in Ancient Greece. And I'm reading one on the exact same matter.

17. What's your fangirlish obsession?
Historical, Jon Bon Jovi. A bit less historical, Lost. (both of them are still happening.) Right now: Misha Collins.

18. What's your favorite food?
Any kind of pasta with pesto sauce. Mm.

19. The last thing you ate?
Hazelnut yogurt. It was glorious.

20. One thing that you like about yourself:
Assuming it means physically... my hair, when it behaves.

3. Phew. Well that took like a lot, but at least I did check out from studying for a while. That said, if I manage to keep with my studying schedule, this week I'm finishing revising my spn_j2_bigbang story and start on the dc_everafter one. Since after then I'll have finals looming pretty much every week. Anyway, anyone would be up for betaing the former? I'm attaching the summary/warnings that I put on the claiming post.

Summary: western AU. Dean Winchester is a bounty hunter, set to catch a group of killers in order to get the money and retire from the business. Castiel is another bounty hunter aiming for the rich businessman who pays that same group of killers to do his dirty work, but for personal reasons. They decide to work together. It doesn't go as smoothly as it could.

Warnings: violence, violence and then some violence, character death for a premise and happening throughout the fic, mention of an attempted rape happened before the story starts but not too graphic, torture (the act itself is not described in a graphic way, but the scene stops just before it and it has relevant consequences), someone gets permanently scarred, language (that might possibly be historically inaccurate, but otherwise it wouldn't make the point).

It's around 25000 by now, should be a bit more than that but still under 30k when I'm done editing. I should probably specify that with character death happening throughout the fic, I mean that neither Dean or Castiel is in the character death quota, but basically since it's a spaghetti western extravaganza you get a bunch of red shirts dying. Anyone? I'm posting on July 29th so I don't really need it back in a day, but I figured that the sooner it's off for betaing the better I can polish it and change stuff if I need it. Any takers?

5. Okay, I should probably go finish my book and finish that other fic. Let's see if I can put off procrastination.

XDDD

LOL, we have basically nothing in common musically. ;D Except I do love me some Flogging Molly. And Mozart, and the amount of his music that you have would put even my brother to shame. *bows*

Also, I'd totally go barefoot all the time too, if I could. And I'm stealing that other meme. *nod*
the female ghost of tom joad: amadeusjanie_tangerine on June 9th, 2011 09:48 pm (UTC)
Well, there has to be ONE thing in which we're not 100% twins. XDD except that you agree on Mozart and Flogging Molly and I never find anyone under thirty who likes the former and NO ONE IN THIS STUPID COUNTRY KNOWS THE LATTER AND I LOVE THEM SO MUCH THEY'RE AWESOME. Also ehe, Mozart. ♥ I've grown up with opera, I get kind of obsessed. And he's my favorite, so. ;) *bows back* (and well it's a lot but if we're talking complete pieces ie operas, requiem etc I probably don't reach fifty different pieces. But the tracks are what they are lol.)

Steal it! And ugh. Shoes. I hate shoes. Most of any given kind of shoes hurt my feet, I probably have like three pairs that I can wear comfortably all the time and I have horrible feet so they hurt whenever. I hate shoes, ugh. See, brain-twinnery strikes again ;)

I loved your answers to the meme and I must say I laughed the most at the dream ones. What do you eat before you go to bed, miss? At least Naveen was IC, though ;)

Well, I've been around your journal enough I think. ;) ;)

IDEK OKAY. And the one about Naveen Andrews happened while I collapsed on books for my ancient greek literature exam at THREE PM so I hadn't even had anything for dinner, lol. But yeah, Naveen WAS IC. Sadly my mom's heart belongs to George Clooney so there was no hope for him ;)
The Cleaveragekel_reiley on June 9th, 2011 11:14 pm (UTC)
ok... i am loving your music lists - i want to, like, roll around in it :)

EDDIE DEAN? OMG! I have been thinking about rereading the whole dark tower series recently... i just never seem to have the time (ps - who do you picture playing eddie? i always saw him as almost famous-era billy crudup, thought he might be too old now)
the female ghost of tom joad: dark tower roland/eddiejanie_tangerine on June 9th, 2011 11:22 pm (UTC)
Feel free to! ;)

Tangerine is so my favorite from LZ! :D but totally overall, too. I love it. And the record it's from. Sigh.

OH MY YOU'RE A FELLOW TOWER JUNKIE? LET ME GIVE YOU AN INTERNET HIGH-FIVE *high-fives* there's so little of us around :(( and hehe, yes, Eddie! Or, the one fictional character I'd ditch every other for. I love his literary face. And oh, Billy Crudup would have been great! But yeah, he's too old now I think. My current pick would be Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I mean, apart from having the acting chops to pull off both angst and fun, I think he has the right face - he's not overtly pretty in the usual way but he's attractive nonetheless, even if not standard-attractive. And he's like thirty, but he looks younger and could pass for the right age without much of a problem.
