someone remind me why am I still doing this. oh, and FML.

This session, some exams got pushed back because they managed to do some mess that I don't want to know with the graduation dates. Among which, there was the one I was supposed to do next. It was supposed to be Jan. 31st. Then that date disappeared and it said that it was only on the 21st. Fine, okay.

Then today I go online to sign myself and I find out that: my exam was supposed to be on the 14th, the one for my class for whoever attended last year is on the 25th, and on the 21st there are the orals for the bachelor class. (I'm in the master's.) This has NOT been notified in any way.

Now, chances are:

a) I do it next session, which means that in June/July/September I have to do eight finals.
b) He lets me do it on the 21st and I can sign the receipt later, but there'll be something like one hundred people because the bachelor class is huge.
c) He lets me do it on the 25th signing the receipt later, but guess what, ON THE 28TH I HAVE ANOTHER ONE, aka the one that weights most on my overall grade, and which I skipped the first time and failed the second, and half the reason was that the teacher is a first grade dick, so it's not as if I can afford to cram everything in two days for that one (especially because half of my problem was stuff that he hadn't explained and said that he wouldn't ask which is actually fucking complicated and which he totally asks anyway, and if he realizes that you have problems, then HE STARTS WITH THEM).

The best would be b), but it'd be least likely since he'll have a bunch of people that day and he doesn't need me on top of them. a) means postponing a final that is relatively easy and the last thing I need is something clogging up my schedule next term. c) means a disaster because then I have to revise for both at once and I'm not really sure that I can juggle it since Last Exam requires my entire concentration. (And in my original plan I was supposed to have two weeks to revise for it, not TWO DAYS.)

These are the moments when I wish I could get a job with a damned bachelor degree, but obviously in this country you don't even get one with the master's, so. I mean, seriously, is it so hard to set a database where you sign your e-mail if you attend a certain class and if exam dates are changed or anything everyone gets sent a general e-mail warning you? Be right back trying to write to my professor and wanting to weep in frustration while wondering why the fuck am I even hoping to graduate without losing a year instead of six months. I mean jfc I'm already doing in one year what I should have done in two because if you graduate in December and you don't have time to go to classes in the first term (and I didn't) you lose half of the first year, but they don't exactly make it easy for you, do they.

Okay, pity party is done. Will go back to try and phrase that mail as nicely as I can without making it sound pathetic. Depending on the answer, I might go spending twenty euros in the cupcake place in the next few days just to cheer myself up.

Sometimes, I think I miss college . . . and then, I read something like this and I get right the hell over it. I see that university bureacracy still conspires to make things as difficult as possible for students.

I might go spending twenty euros in the cupcake place in the next few days just to cheer myself up.

Go for it! Sugar is a wonderful antidote to aggravation. ;)

Sometimes I think I should treasure the time that I'm still spending here but when this happens I'm like 'okay I want to be out and have a job and be DONE'. Sigh. Also it pisses me off that here we end up with problems that fucked up administrations in other countries don't have, but.

I think I'll go get myself cupcakes tomorrow, yes. ;) I can't resist and I'll really need sugar. ;)

I'm sorry school admin is being so shitty to you. Sending lotsa hugs in your direction, and good luck getting all this craziness figured out.

Thanks <3333

I just wish that the school admin did something useful (like warning if dates get pushed) rather than just telling me which classes I can't take. (Most of the ones I want to take...) <333

I can't believe they'd do something like that without warning you. It's incredibly unprofessional of them.

When classes start again I'm going to metaphorically hug my university's admin staff because they've never done something like this.

Best of luck. *HUGS*

Thanks ♥ I really hope it gets sorted out. If not... eh, more stress during the summer I guess.

I don't even know. I had realized that here it was every man for himself ages ago but I mean, in the rest of the world people are actually notified. I had known that both this and another one had switched dates because other people told me, figure it out... *facepalms* But yeah admin here is the platonic idea of unprofessional. Maybe they do it on purpose. :/

I admit that it's been a while that I finished school, so maybe they have changed here (I hope not!), but they would never have been allowed to jerk us around like that... the exams schedules were sometimes cramped with 5 of them in 3 days or something, but the dates were fixed and didn't change ever.

I am so, so sorry they are messing with you like this, not even sending emails to warn you guys. it sucks and I hope that you find the best possible solution ♥

buy a cupcake for me and eat it ;)

I think it's a pretty Italian thing. :/ along with giving you the dates the month before exams start, but well, at least until now they always either kept them straight or at most they postponed it rather than putting it BEFORE without anyone telling you beforehand. Then again Italian public universities are every man for himself and if they're huge then there's no escape... :/

And thank you! ♥ I'll totally get the cupcake for you too. ;)

As a teacher, I can't imagine not letting my students know that the date of the exam had been moved up-that's seriously appalling. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with the stress *hugs*

I definitely had a cupcake today and it was amazing-cupcakes make bad things better and good things better too :)
the female ghost of tom joad: ILUjanie_tangerine on February 17th, 2012 09:35 am (UTC)
thank you <3333

This entire thing is just too appalling. Also I'd like to worry about the stuff I need to study, not whether I can take finals or not. :(

And yes, the cupcakes are probably mandatory by now. ;)

I managed to get option b), thankfully my teacher was very nice about it (and then someone else had the same problem so I guess that they did fuck up), so I did it and now I'm just going to register at the first available occasion. But if they keep on doing this to me I'll go insane before I even come close to graduation... :/
