fic, Lost: The A-Team of Craphole Island (Charlie, said A-Team), PG, for elliotsmelliot
Second of the icon drabbles; this is for elliotsmelliot , who chose this icon which I love dearly ♥:

Of course, five times longer than a drabble should be.

Title: The A-Team of Craphole Island
Rating: PG
Characters: Charlie, Jack, Sawyer, Sayid
Word counting: 584
Disclaimer: Mine? What? No.
Spoilers: For Live Together Die Alone.
Summary: Jack, Sawyer and Sayid, they are the sodding A-Team, the three of them. He can see it as clearly as he has never seen anything since the crash.
A/N: Blame this on the fact that I've seen that Lost/A-Team trailer on youtube and couldn't shake it out of my mind since July. Could be crack-ish. Could. If you don't have at least an idea of the original A-Team characters you probably won't get it.

Charlie watches Jack, Sawyer and Sayid climbing on the boat, binoculars focused at the maximum; a bloody good kind of binoculars he has to say, since he can see what’s going on exactly as he could if he was right there.

He moves the binoculars a bit, their focus going from Jack, his clothes dark because of the water, clinging to his body and showing off every muscle in his chest, to Sawyer, whose tanned skin seems to glow, glistened with little drops of water, to Sayid, dark hair lingering on his forehead and his neck; he handles the gun with such a skill that the difference between his level of experience in the gun handling field and Jack and Sawyer’s is way, way obvious. Sayid definitely is a span above his two comrades. Well, Charlie reasons, he usually is also when it doesn’t come to handling guns, but that’s another matter.

They move gracefully, in unison, like raiding boats with guns in their hands is what they were born for; they don’t get too scared when someone shoots from down there. Then Jack and Sayid go down in the cabin while Sawyer stands outside, keeping his guard; Charlie has to admit that he’s kind of perplexed when Jack emerges bringing out another guy with a dirty white shirt, long hair, quite long beard and way, way wasted. Then Jack says something to Sayid who nods and goes towards the other side of the boat, presumably to steer it towards the shore; Sawyer leaves the gun and helps Jack support the boat’s owner keeping him in a standing position, or so Charlie figures.

And that’s when the realization hits him because yes, that’s exactly what they are and why didn’t he realize it before? Maybe because the tv-shows which he used to watch with Liam as teenagers when they were originally aired and on re-runs when he was high weren’t a subject he was particularly interested in considering. Not until now.

Jack, Sawyer and Sayid, they are the sodding A-Team, the three of them. He can see it as clearly as he has never seen anything since the crash.

Sawyer is the most obvious. He’s so Face it’s not even funny.

Sayid... well, Locke maybe has the better physique du role for Hannibal, but Sayid looks like a good enough substitute. Charlie guesses that on the original show they couldn’t have that many pretty faces but hey, this is Craphole Island and everything is better than the model. Also, he thinks, wasn’t there a mechanic too, in the A-Team? Charlie thinks that Sayid can definitely fill both places.

Jack, duh, didn’t he take flying lessons once, or so he heard? And from what Charlie has seen, he’s got all the skills to be an excellent Murdoch. The boat approaches to the shore and Charlie gives Steve the binoculars, smiling slightly. Rescue mission seemingly accomplished, it seems, though he doesn’t know whether it’d be Mr. Way Wasted’s opinion. But as Jack and Sawyer drag him down on the shore moving in perfect synchrony and Sayid as usual answers questions without giving any real answer (probably because he doesn’t have answers himself), Charlie can only notice how good of a combination for patrol service those three are.

They are definitely the sodding A-Team of Craphole island, indeed. He wishes he could discuss it with somebody, but it’s not quite the time for funny remarks. No problem, he’s going to keep it for the next occasion.

Yay! *Clap Hands*

I was never allowed to watch the A-Team. (I had to go to bed at 7:30 in those days, after only half an hour of the Love Boat.) But I am familiar with the macho essence and even if I didn't know the characters, I loved this. From Charlie's magical binoculars to everyone's glistening bodies, it had the feel of 1980s show. I could also almost hear a cheesy soundtrack, drowning on Desmond's Mozart.

I had to laugh about Charlie pointing out Sayid's expertise with the gun. Of course, he is most awesome. We know Sawyer has handled guns, and sometimes poorly, but I've always wondered if Jack had any previous experience. I've had a fic idea for a while that goes into Juliet and Jack each learning to shoot.

Thanks for fleshing out that icon's story!

Thank you! I had seen it a couple of times back when I still didn't have an idea and then I saw some re-runs this summer. It was kind of too good to let it go! Good that it had the feeling of the 80s show because I was aiming for it even if I grew up with early 90s shows, kinda sadly because the 80s ones were better. The characters, you only need to know that Hannibal was the mastermind behind the whole thing, Face was a very pretty con man and Murdoch a half crazy guy who flew the helicopters or stuff like that ;) then there was an amazing mechanical who was a mix up between Hurley and Eko but it was convenient to keep it at three.

I've had a fic idea for a while that goes into Juliet and Jack each learning to shoot.

Sounds great! If you do it I'd read it very willingly ;) and Sayid > everyone. Especially in guns matters.

Very much welcome, glad you liked it! ♥

This was great! Sawyer is totally Face! In fact, I wanted Dirk Benedict to play his dad, if we ever get to see him! (Him or Perry King, if you know who that is.) Loved it!

Oh, good casting - either one! ;-)

Thank you so much, glad you liked it! ♥ And isn't he just Face? It was too perfect not to do it. Dirk Benedict would play an awesome mr Ford! I had to google Perry King since I didn't know who he was (and I can safely say that they never aired Riptide in here), but he looks pretty good, too! ;)

So true! They are the fucking A-Team! Ha! Who's Mr T though? Excellent work! ;-)

Aren't they just? ;) Uhm, I'd safely say that Sayid can be a mix-up of Hannibal and Mr T, though if we get into size issues that should be Hurley ;) maybe Sayid can give him lessons!

Thank, very glad you liked it!

This has made me remember my childhood, when I used to watch re-runs on TV. I had to look the names on the Internet because, who knows why, in the Spanish version Face is called Fénix -Phoenix- and B.A. is M.A.
Anyway, it was a very funny fic to read. They're so lovely~ ♥

The A-Team was the awesome! And here the same exact thing has happened, but Face was named Sberla which means slap, go figure ;) at least they left the others as they were.

Thank you, glad you liked it! ♥

Oh that's just fantastic!! I loved the A-Team as a kid, in fact I think my dad would go so far as to say I was totally obsessed ;) I have a sudden urge to read crack fic now of those three doing A-Team style jobs :)

Don't tell me that! I've been wanting to write an AU where Jack, Sawyer, Locke and Sayid are the actual A-Team for months but I know it'd get way out of hand and I can't do another huge thing right now! ;) though that'd be too good. And the A-Team was a totally awesome show ♥ thanks, glad you liked it!

Oh don't tell me you're going to make me beg?!?!? It's not a pretty sight.... but I will!! ;)

Weeeelll... when I finish that current Jack/Sawyer sorta epic I'm working on right now I could so give it a try. I've been tempted for far too long but I know my limits and two WIPs would end in not finishing either ;) but no, don't beg. My ego is low on temptation on his own, there's no need for it! ;)

Yay!!!!!!!!!! I shall go in the corner and squee quietly - wouldn't want to distract you from the J/S!! ;)

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond (I've been off-line for 2 days).

Hehe! This was great. I love looking at "the bloody A-Team" through Charlie's eyes. His tone is perfect - half admiring (a little jealous perhaps?) and half sarcastic (so not jealous, they're all wankers!). Since Charlie is a British child of the 80's I can assure you that he and Liam probably would be A-Team fans. It was massive over here when they were kids. Your spoofs on each of the characters were perfect and I loved you calling Desmond 'Mr Way Wasted'. Best of all I love that Charlie was eager to share his funny remark but decided to save it because everyone was acting too serious at the time - that is sooo Charlie!
the female ghost of tom joad: lost a-teamjanie_tangerine on April 8th, 2008 10:40 pm (UTC)
No problem at all!

And I'm so definitely glad you liked it! I'll admit I still not feel overly confident writing Charlie (especially with dialogue since he's far more witty than I am) so it's really good to hear I did alright with him. I'll admit that I was thinking about Eddie and Henry watching Yoghi Bear but the A-Team was totally better ;) very much glad you liked this, thank you!
